DAY 01 | DEPART LONDON HEATHROW

Today you will board on an overnight plane to Bengaluru (1 stopover).

DAY 02 | ARRIVE BENGALURU

Welcome to India! On arrival at Bengaluru Airport, you will be greeted by our tour representative in the arrival hall, who will escort you to your hotel and assist you in check-in. Proceed for a sightseeing tour of Bengaluru. The schedule for the day depends on your time of arrival. Popularly known as the “Silicon Valley of India” for being the major IT hub of India, Bengaluru also enjoys the title of the “Garden City” due to the presence of many public parks. Combining history and architecture of the past with IT and modern developments, Bengaluru showcases the perfect marriage of old with new. Places you will visit include ISCON Temple (an interesting synchronization of spirituality with modern technology), Lalbagh botanical garden and Vidhana Soudha (Karnataka State Legislature).

DAY 03 | BENGALURU – SRIRANGAPATNA – MYSURU

After breakfast, check-out of your hotel and drive to Mysuru, which is 150 km (approximately three hours) from Bengaluru. Formerly known as Mysore, Mysuru owes its popularity to its splendid royal heritage and awe-inspiring monuments and buildings. En route, you visit Srirangapatna which is located at a short distance from Mysuru. Srirangapatna is of great religious, cultural and historic importance. Major attractions you visit here include temple of Lord Ranganathaswamy, Daria Daulat Bagh (Summer Palace of Tipu Sultan), Tipu Sultan Gumbaz (Mausoleum of Tipu Sultan), and Srirangapatna Fort. On arrival in Mysuru, check-in at hotel. This evening, you can choose to visit Mysore Palace, and depending on the day of the week, capture the glimpses of Palace light illumination or witness the sound and light show.

DAY 04 | MYSURU SIGHTSEEING

After breakfast, you visit Mysore Palace. A striking example of the supreme archeological finesse, you get a glimpse of the yesteryear lavishness with Elephant Gate and Doll’s Pavillion. It blends the architectural style of Hindu, Mughal, Rajput and Gothic style and is one of the finest palaces in the City of Palace, Mysore.

You start the exploration at the top of Chamudi Hills, where Chamundeswari temple, dedicated to the deities of Mysore Kings is sitauted. Called as Naada Devathe, meaning State Goddess, by the natives. It is situated at the elevation of about 838 feet from the sea level. You also get to drive to St. Philomena’s Chruch, which is a catholic church that is the cathedral of the Diocese of Mysore. Inspired by the deisgn from Cologne Cathedral in Germany, the floor plan has a resemblence to the cross and is definitely a sight not to be missed in South India exploration.

DAY 05 | MYSORE – OOTY [ENROUTE VISIT BANDIPUR AND MUDUMALAI]

After breakfast we drive towards Ooty. Enroute visit Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary. Ranganathittu Bird sanctuary lies beautifully on the banks of River Cauvery covering over 40 acres of land. You can spot a number of local and migratory birds including darter, Peafowl, Pond Heron, Painted stork, etc. Afterwards, we visit the Lalith Mahal palace hotel, which is known as the second largest palace in Mysore. It is believed that, the construction of the palace dates back to 20th century and was built for the exclusive stay of the then Viceroy of India. We than continue drive towards Ooty with an enroute visit to Mudumalai National Park. Enroute we will have lunch but at your own cost. After lunch, we continue to Ooty. Enroute to Ooty we visit Bandipur Forest by car, we will proceed to Mudumalai National Park & Wildlife Sanctuary. It is declared as tiger reserve is approximately 12 kilometres away from Bandipur National Park. It is home to several endangered and vulnerable species including Indian elephant, Bengal tiger, gaur and Indian leopard.

After enjoying the Jeep Safari at Mudumalai Wildlife sanctuary from 1500 to 16:00 Hrs, we than continue our drive to Ooty. Ooty, also known as Udhagamandalam, is a hill station in the state of Tamil Nadu, in southern India. Surrounded by trees, central Ooty Lake is a huge artificial expanse of water with pleasure boats. On the slopes of nearby Elk Hill, the Rose Garden is home to over 2,000 varieties of roses.

DAY 06 | SIGHTSEEING – OOTY LOVEDALE & COONOOR

After breakfast, we will proceed for the sightseeing of Ooty. Our sightseeing covers hill station towns of Lovedale and Coonoor. The great mountain ranges of the Western and Eastern Ghats sweep down to form a “V” about 400 km from the southern tip of India. It is here in the Nilgiris Mountains where the states of Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka meet. The rolling, forested Nilgiri Hills were once the favored summer escape for the colonial British living on the southern plains of India.

Visit the 180 year old St Stephen’s Church which echoes with history. Many scions of old English families are buried in the extensive cemetery followed by a visit to the Ooty Botanical gardens. This hill station garden is at an altitude of 2,250m, resulting in an interesting mix of plants in the 55 acre gently sloping site conservatories, an Italian garden and rose. Afternoon proceed to Coonoor, known for the production of Nilgiri tea, Coonoor is one of three misty Nilgiri hill stations. It sits approximately 1850m above sea level and is connected to Ooty and Mettupalayam by the joyful and ingenious Nilgiri Mountain Railway, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list. The surrounding region is beautifully carpeted in emerald tea plantations that are studded with tall trees and interspersed with waterfalls. We will depart from Coonoor at 1600 hrs and proceed to Ooty at 17:30 hrs. Upon arrival at Ooty railway station, you will be met by our representative and transferred to the hotel. The mountain railway is a treasured and fabled charm of the Nilgiris since 1899. The Nilgiri railway system is unique as it is the steepest in Asia and has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The stretch from Mettupalyam to Coonoor is extremely attractive as it weaves its way through tunnels and forests, narrow valleys, over bridges and gushing streams, ,as you gain height ,mists descend from the mountain peaks to welcome you.

DAY 07 | OOTY – VYTHIRI

After breakfast, we proceed to Vythiri; a small town and tourist destination in Wayanad. Enroute we visit Needle Rock View point in Gudalur and Wayanad Wildlife sanctuary. We will continue to enjoy visiting Pookot Lake and Chain Tree.

Wayanad is home to exotic legends, ancient ruins, mysterious mountain caves, aborigine tribes, hidden treasures, tree houses, jungle trails and exotic wild life, Kerala’s Wayanad district is the perfect setting for a hundred great adventures. On arrival check in to the hotel.

DAY 08 | WAYANAD

Breakfast at the hotel. Today is kept leisurely for you to rest and relax or you may choose to enjoy resort’s inhouse activities nature walk with naturalist, hike nearby hillocks and so on.

DAY 09 | WAYANAD – COCHIN

After break breakfast, check out from your hotel and drive to Cochin. On arrival in Cochin, check-in at hotel. Spend the rest of the day at leisure.

DAY 10 | IN COCHIN

The morning after breakfast, you will be met by your Tour Guide at the hotel lobby and proceed for the sightseeing of Cochin.
Take a tour of the city visiting the Dutch Palace, which has some of India’s most beautiful murals, the Jewish Synagogue in the heart of Jew Town and the cantilevered Chinese fishing nets. See St. Francis Church where Vasco da Gama was originally buried, and the Santa Cruz Church with its pastel coloured interior and carved wooden panels.

In the evening proceed to witness the Kathakali Dance Performance.

Kathakali literally meaning “story dance” is the pantomimic dance drama, the dancing and the acting being blended together into an inseparable form. It is a combination of facial expressions and body movements, which brings out the thought and emotion of the character. Kathakali is predominantly a male art and the dancing is mostly of the masculine type. The position taken by the actor is angular. He never stands erect while acting, his knees being spread out and his legs forming a rhombus, his hands bent at the elbow and his palms on his hips. The outer feet are never flat on the ground and still the actor maintains a perfect balance. The female character is lasya which is gentle and grateful. This is particularly evident in love scenes.

DAY 11 | COCHIN – ALLEPPEY

Today morning after breakfast, you will be driven to Alleppey (57 Kms 02 Hrs approx.) where upon arrival you will check in at your houseboat.

Climb aboard the traditional kettuvallams (riceboats) converted into houseboats with bedrooms and attached toilets. Originally these boats were used as ferries to carry rice. Cruise through the backwaters of Kerala. The houseboat is one of the 50 “must do” things as described by the National Geographic Traveller magazine. The backwater cruise through the narrow canals that criss-cross a typical Kerala Village, rich with green paddy fields and verdant coconut trees and is a thrilling experience. The boat cruise takes you to small islets tucked away amidst those waters where you get glimpses of the village at the best of its serenity and innocence. Lunch and dinner will be served on board.

DAY 12 | ALLEPPEY – KOVALAM

Today morning, after breakfast de-board the houseboat and you will be transferred to Kovalam (175 kms / 4 Hrs).

Enroute we enjoy an hour boating in Poover lake. Afterward we continue to Kovalam.

Upon arrival in Kovalam, check-in at the hotels.

Just 12 km to the south of Trivandrum lies Kovalam, an uncluttered beach of silvery sands fringed with rows of tall palm trees. Once just a series of sandy bays separated by rocky promontories, deserted except for some fishing villages, it has become a major tourist centre. Kovalam is a pleasant seaside place with a sheltered bay and a wide choice of water sports.
