The Experience

Day 1: Depart London Heathrow

Today you will board on an overnight plane to New Delhi. Your flight will have 1 stopover with 1-5 hour stopover; direct flights [Virgin, British Airways, Jet Airways, and Air India] are available to New Delhi at extra cost, please ask at the time of booking if you wish to fly direct.

Overnight at the plane

Day 2: Arrive Delhi

Today you will arrive at Delhi’s International Airport. Following customs, immigration formalities and baggage collection, a LUMLE representative will meet you as you exit the arrivals terminal building and transfer you to your hotel.

Perhaps there is no other capital city in the world so steeped in history and legend as the Indian capital Delhi. It was the magnet, which drew the Mongols, Turks, Persians, Afghans, Mughals and the British, all of whom contributed to its glorious but turbulent past. The fascination with Delhi was such that even though it was abandoned many times, its rulers returned to it, again and again, rebuilding it at least seven times. Today, the twin cities of Old and New Delhi still intrigue Indians and tourists alike as the cultural and political capital of the largest democracy in the world.

Overnight at the hotel.

Day 3: In Delhi

Early morning you will embark on the combined city tour Delhi. Delhi is divided into two parts New and Old Delhi. First, you will visit the old part of Delhi. You will visit:

Jamia Masjid – One of the oldest Mosques in Asia followed by a rickshaw ride in the old narrow streets of Chandini Chowk, silver streets and spice Markets, then later visit the Red Fort (photo stop only) and the Rajghat – Cremation place of Mahatma Ghandi. Following this, you will take a break at local ethnic restaurants (at own cost). Afterward, you return to the hotel.

After lunch, you will kick off the second part of your Delhi tour for sightseeing of New Delhi by a drive past Rashtrapati Bhawan (President’s House) and its well-maintained Mughal Gardens, the Parliament of India and India Gate, a war memorial. Then you’ll visit the famous Humuyus Tomb – replica of Taj Mahal made of sandstone and marble. Other highlights of the day include visits to Lotus Temple – belonging to the Bahai Faith. Later visiting the Tallest Minaret called Qutub Minar and return to hotel.

Overnight stay at the hotel

Day 4: Delhi – Agra (By Surface)

After breakfast you begin your journey to Agra (214 Km /5 Hrs).

Upon arrival in Agra you will check-in at your hotel and a representative will assist you to complete your check-in formalities.

Agra came into the limelight during the rule of the Afghan King Sikandar Lodhi – who had made it the capital of his empire. Later in 1526 A.D., the Mughal Emperor Babar took upon himself the task for rendering Agra, a unique character and beauty of its own. The next few hundred years of Agra witnessed the rise of the pomp and pageantry of three great Mughal monarchs – Emperor Akbar, Jehangir, and Shahjahan. In modern times, the city of Agra is a thriving carpet industry where you can also find leather workers, sandstone and marble sculptors, some of whom claim to be direct descendants of the craftsmen who had helped build the Taj Mahal.

Overnight at the hotel.

Day 5: In Agra

Visit the Taj Mahal at Sunrise (Depending on the weather), monument remains closed on all Fridays. Taj Mahal was built by an emperor in memory of his beloved queen. Construction of the Taj Mahal began in 1631 and is believed to have taken 18 years to complete, with over 20,000 craftsmen working around the clock. The design and construction is said to be that of the legendary architect, Ustad Ahamad Lahori. What makes the Taj Mahal unique is its perfect proportions, distinct femininity, the medium of construction and ornamentation. Its marble exterior reflects rose and golden tints at sunrise and sunset, while it is dazzling white during the day. It is impossible to visualize the Taj Mahal in any surrounding others than its paradoxical garden. Paradise, in Islam, is visualized as a lush garden where running streams flow.

Come back to the hotel and enjoy your breakfast.

Later visit the impressive Agra Fort, the seat and stronghold of the Mughal Empire for successive generations. The buildings within this sprawling fort complex represent the assimilation of different cultures, which was the mark of the Mughal period. Most of the structures within the Agra fort are a mixture of different architectural styles.

Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 6: Agra – Fatehpur Sikri – Jaipur (By Surface)

Today after breakfast, you will drive to Jaipur (approx. 235 kms / 5 hours) en-route visiting Fatehpur Sikri – the deserted red sandstone city that was built by Emperor Akbar as his capital. Ponder the mysterious desertion of this capital city that was dramatically abandoned a few years after it was built. It was a veritable fairy tale city and its ‘ruins’ are still in a pristine condition. It is not hard to imagine what the court life must have been like in the days of its grandeur.

After the visit, continue your drive towards, Jaipur.

Jaipur – the capital of Rajasthan province is known for its arts and crafts, jewellery, hand-painted fabrics, and stone sculptures; it is one of North India’s finest examples of a planned city embodying the best of Rajput and Mughal architecture.

Upon arrival in Jaipur, you will be met & assisted by LUMLE representative for your check-in at the hotel.

Evening is at your leisure.

Overnight at the hotel.

Day 7: In Jaipur

After breakfast, visit Amber Fort. High above the city, the towers and domes of the Amber Fort are reminiscent of scenes from some fairy tale. The palace itself is within the enormous fort complex and is replete with halls, gardens, pavilions, and temples. The Hall of Mirrors is not to be missed where one lit matchstick can illuminate the entire room.

Later proceed to visit the City Palace Museum where you can see an imposing blend of traditional Rajasthani and Mughal Art. The museum is resplendent with its collection of robes of royal princes, carpets, an armoury of old weapons, miniature paintings portraying court scenes, battle scenes and processions, Also visit the awe inspiring Jantar Mantar (an accurate observatory built in 1726 AD).

Your tour also included is a photo visit at the Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds) – a five storied wonder with a spectacular pyramidal facade and overhanging windows with latticed screens, domes and spires.

Later walk through the colourful markets of Jaipur.

Overnight at the hotel.

Day 8: Jaipur – Pushkar (By Surface)

After Breakfast you will be driven to Pushkar (330 Kms/5 Hrs). Upon arrival, proceed for check-in at your hotel.

The village of Pushkar lies on the edge of the desert. At its heart is one of India’s most sacred lakes. There are 52 ghats around the lake, and numerous temples. The Brahma temple, especially, attracts pilgrims all year round. Apart from its religious significance, Pushkar is known for its Cattle and Camel fair held every year in the month of Kartik (October/November). Being a religious town, alcohol and non-vegetarian food are taboo. In the afternoon go for the city tour of Pushkar

    Amazing 10 days

Was excellent value for money – from the pickup at the airport, the great hotels, knowledgeable, friendly guides at each destination, plenty of leisure time and the wonderful sights. Nothing prepares you for the beauty of the Taj Mahal, the amazing history of Rajasthan or the inspiring Pink City. To find that they had “air conditioning” plumbing/drainage that still works today, hot & cold water, toilet closets & hand basins, hundreds of years ago. Fascinating & can’t wait to go back.

Highlights of Rajasthan was friendly, fascinating and great value

We were very impressed with the Indian tour and would have no hesitation recommending it to anyone wanting a well organised tour at a relaxed pace. The accommodations were all very clean and comfortable, with kind and helpful staff. Special mention must be made for our lovely driver who was friendly and professional as well as being an excellent driver. We were particularly appreciative of being assisted at all times – especially being met by a Sitar representative (always punctually!) at each arrival point as well as having knowledgeable local guides for all the sightseeing portions. A representative at the airport to help us negotiate the departure system was a nice touch and ensured we left India feeling that we had been very well taken care of for the entire trip. A truly remarkable cultural experience, made easy. We would be delighted to use Lumle Travel again should we be lucky enough to be able to do so.

    Great holiday to India

This was a spur of the moment booking for their package tour of Delhi, Agra and Jaipur. The UK office was very efficient and with the help of their representatives in India we managed to see far more of the country than we could have managed as independent travellers. Everything from the driver to the guides and hotel arrangements was handled well. Having travelled independently in India previously we appreciated the organisation in place to make our holiday work well whilst still allowing us some flexibility with the day-to-day itinerary.

Lumle holliday to India. New Delhi Agra Jaipur and Pushka

Our holiday was excellent in every respect. My husband and I are retired and were a little unsure about a holiday in India but we went ahead with the holiday because Lumle holidays were so good in answering all of our questions on what to expect, what to take, what to do/not to do etc., etc., we truly felt the service was well beyond the norm.

When we arrived in Delhi we were greeted at the airport by a guide and a driver who took us to our hotel and explained how we would proceed to and be met at, each of our destinations.

From then on the organisation of the holiday was seamless and very impressive. The sights were wonderful and each of the guides very knowledgeable and informative and very helpful in general matters like which restaurants to eat in etc.,
    .
Our driver (and the car) was excellent too. An exceedingly competent driver which was essential in some of the ‘ city driving’ we experiencd His English was limited, not as fluent as the guides, but enough to establish a relationship.

The hotels were fine, small,, friendly and clean. The breakfasts were plentiful with a range of options. Three of the hotels had outdoor swimming pools which was a bonus. The staff at each of the hotels were excellent, they could not do enough for you and I could not be justified in singling out any individual.

Even the train journey from Pushka back to New Delhi went without a hitch.(a very memorable journey too)

Above all I’d like to thank Narayan from Lumle holidays for organising a most enjoyable holiday and reassuring us at every step of the way. He even rang us the day we arrived in New Delhi to make sure we had arrived ok and had everything we needed.

I am now recommending this company to everyone and will certainly be using them again in the future. Thank you for a wonderful holiday and a truly priceless experience

“India - Golden Triangle + Pushkar”

I booked this trip with hesitation not knowing what to expect, putting a lot of trust into Narayan (agent in the UK). I booked it for my 30th Birthday celebrations.

I can now say I was not let down in any way. We were looked after at all times and everyone was really nice.

From being picked up from the airport, all check in formalities at all hotels being taken care of by a representative from the company. Each hotel being of really good standards with a decent buffet breakfast being included.

Sightseeing in each city was undertaken by local guides who were knowledgeable and very accommodating.

We had the same driver throughout the tour who was friendly and with a good sense of humour who looked after us all well.

And the experience of visiting, touring and sightseeing in India was absolutely amazing, there are no words to describe the Taj Mahal. I enjoyed it all and loved every minute of it. Once in a lifetime experience! Memories for life.

To anyone wanting to tour India I would strongly recommend undertaking it with Lumle Holidays. They took care of everything making our experience even better.

The highlights for me were, Agra and Pushkar.

I was also surprised with a birthday cake on the morning of my birthday a very nice gesture, thank you Lumle Holidays and Narayan.

And finally this trip was very good value for money! Taking into consideration everything that was included we could never have accomplished it any better as solo travellers.

    “Magical Rajasthan!!”

I travelled on a 9 day Golden Triangle tour in India in early February 2016. It was a great experience which exceeded expectations. All the hotels were high quality, and we had local guides and same driver for the whole tour. They were flexible and obliging re stopping off at money machines etc en route and in giving out local knowledge for independent sightseeing. The local tour company partner was accessible immediately for queries and was efficient and highly professional. All the connecting travel arrangements were in place with no issue and we were treated very well at all times. The tour content took us across a range of key sites with adequate time to visit. No hesitation in recommending this tour for a visit to this part of India. The UK contact was great to deal with in booking the tour and responding to queries over the weeks prior with patience and friendliness :-)

    “Great experience around Northern India”

The package provided gave us a great experience of this amazing country. All of the attractions were well worth the visits and the knowledge of the local guides was very much need to help paint the scene.

Our only feedback would be to make known the costs at booking – Whilst £300 covered the 12 days food and attractions each time we went out with a guide money was needed to pay for the attractions.

“17 night private tour of India in Oct 2016”

We toured the north of India up to the Pakistan border, all the forts and palaces, this included Taj Mahal, red fort, golden temple , and many more. Since we had a Independant guide he gave us information and were able to access areas other tourists could not. We were based in Delhi in a wonderful hotel and had time to visit local areas. From Delhi we took a return train to amritsar, was a great experience. Very busy and wonderful days before returning. From Delhi we drive down to Cochin southern India then onto the tea plantation in munnar, Truly amazing to see how India really is. Wonderful people, fantastic sites, and great variety of food in all areas. We then did an overnight houseboat in Kerala, in our own private one bedroomed boat, superb. Spent the last 4 days in Kerala by the beach in a beautiful private bungalow. Because we had independent transport and couriers throughout our stay we had the most fantastic journeys whilst travelling through India. We had two independent flights in India and would recommend India airlines for their courtesy and beautiful plane. All our travelling experiences were times in and around what we required and were given the choice to prolong our stays when ever we wanted within the time frame. All hotels were of 4/5 star quality and the security of our stays there were the best ever. We travelled in October and the average temp was 38 degrees every day, with only one day of rain which was in Munner. This was a holiday of a life time without paying a fortune. Narayan one of owners of the company organised with ourselves the itinerary and would recommend highly to take on board their expertise and knowledge. He went beyond and above customer service. We had access daily to a rep and himself whilst on holiday. We are organising another holiday with them because of Narayan exceptional care and value.
