Join this memorable eight-day tour of Andalusia to see, feel, and understand the passion, romance, mysticism, beauty, and history of Spain, because nowhere are these features more evident than in this ancient southern region. During this fascinating tour, discover the cultural riches of Andalusia, from the inspiring Phoenician times to the Roman, Muslim, Jewish and Christian periods, while visiting spellbinding world heritage sites in Seville, Cordoba, and Granada.

THE EXPERIENCE

Day 1 : ARRIVAL MALAGA – TORREMOLINOS/COSTA DEL SOL

After landing at Malaga airport and taking the transfer to your hotel in Torremolinos / Costa del Sol, spend the rest of the day exploring this new location at your leisure. You can either venture out into the street and discover the surroundings or relax at the hotel enjoying the available amenities.

Overnight in Torremolinos/Costa del Sol

Day 2 : TORREMOLINOS/COSTA DEL SOL – PIZARRA – ESTEPA – SEVILLE (235km – 3h30)

After breakfast at your hotel, depart towards Pizarra. Stop at a local farm, Juanito Orange, where the charming owner Juanito will teach you all about organic agriculture, especially regarding citrus fruits. At the end of the visit you’ll have the chance to taste some of the local products (orange juice, fruit or similar). Afterwards continue towards Estepa, stopping to enjoy a traditional lunch en route. The village of Estepa is well-known in Spain for its traditional Christmas pastry production, ‘mantecados’. Visit one of the most important factories and taste some of the typical sweets before continuing to Seville.

Overnight in Seville

Day 3 : SEVILLE

Discover Seville with a morning tour after breakfast at the hotel. Seville is the capital of Andalusia and is famed for its authentic Spanish atmosphere and impressive architecture. Marvel at the glory of the Cathedral, whose Giralda belfry is the city’s most iconic symbol. The cathedral was originally a mosque in the 12th century and has since grown to become the third-largest church in the world. Discover the 80 chapels and more than 700 works of religious art, see the amazing gilded altarpiece – which took 80 years to make – and stroll through the peaceful Patio of the Orange Trees. Next, explore the secluded Barrio de Santa Cruz, the former Jewish quarter and today the most traditional neighbourhood in the old town. It is a warren of whitewashed lanes, alleys, archways and patios, each with a historical tale to tell. Also visit one of the main food markets and taste local food following your guide’s recommendations. Spend the rest of the day at leisure.

Overnight in Seville

Day 4 : SEVILLA – CORDOBA – GRANADA (320Km – 4hrs)

Bid farewell to Seville after breakfast at the hotel and depart for Cordoba. Enjoy a guided tour of the old town, a UNESCO-listed World Heritage Site. Cordoba was the capital of the Moorish caliphate of Al-Andalus during the height of its power and glory, and nowhere is this wealth more evident than in the magnificent Mezquita (Great Mosque), which is now a Catholic cathedral. Wander through the colonnaded prayer halls, decorated with hundreds of marble columns joined by two-tone arches. Admire the mihrab and the side chapels, with their eclectic mix of arabesque and baroque styles. Stroll through the Patio of the Orange Trees, an oasis of peace cooled by the shade of 100 trees, and admire the arabesque decorations of the exterior doorways. Continue the tour by walking to the former Jewish Quarter and enjoy some free time for lunch. Proceed afterwards to your next stop: Granada.

Overnight in Granada

Day 5 : GRANADA

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before exploring the historical city of Granada and photographing its greatest treasures. Visit the Alhambra royal complex, one of the most impressive monuments in Andalusia (entrance to Nazari-Palace section NOT included). For more than a thousand years, this ‘pearl set in emeralds’ has stood atop Sabika hill overlooking the city, gaining importance during the Moorish Nasrid dynasty, which turned the original castle into the stunning palace it is today. The royal complex and gardens were built to resemble ‘heaven on earth’, with cool patios, fountains and intricate carvings. Have lunch either at your hotel or a local restaurant, before spending the afternoon as your please.

Overnight in Granada

Day 6 : GRANADA – ALFARNATEJO – TORREMOLINOS /COSTA DEL SOL (160Km – 2h30)

Depart to Alfarnatejo, a ‘white village’ lost in Malaga’s mountain ranges. As part of this experience, don’t miss the chance to visit an ancient olive mill and enjoy lunch in a private house, where you will taste typical home-cooked dishes home lovingly prepared by the ‘mamas’ of Alfarnatejo (approx. 6-8 pax per house). Having eaten, continue towards your hotel in Torremolinos, back to where your tour originally started.

Overnight in Torremolinos

Day 7 : TORREMOLINOS/COSTA DEL SOL

Have an early breakfast at your hotel getting ready for a memorable day that you can spend at your leisure. Relax at your hotel or, if you’re feeling adventurous, go out and explore this town nestled between the bay of Malaga and the Mijas mountain range. Why not have the best of both worlds and rest in the morning, even enjoy a siesta after lunch at your hotel, before going out to enjoy the surprising south of Spain.

Overnight in Torremolinos/Costa del Sol

Day 8 : DEPART TORREMOLINOS – MALAGA

After a delightful breakfast at your hotel, enjoy a comfortable transfer to Malaga airport to catch your departure flight back home. Have a safe journey!
