India’s capital brings together the contrasting character of Old and New Delhi. Old Delhi is known for its historic lanes, bustling bazaars, mosques and monuments, while New Delhi features broad avenues and landmarks reflecting different periods of the city’s history.

After breakfast, join your local guide for a sightseeing tour exploring the contrasting areas of Old and New Delhi. Begin in Old Delhi with a visit to the historic Red Fort (closed on Mondays), followed by the 17th-century Jama Masjid. Continue through the bustling Chandni Chowk area, known for its narrow lanes, traditional shops and lively bazaars.

Continue to Raj Ghat, the memorial dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi, before exploring New Delhi. See India Gate and drive through the government district, passing Rashtrapati Bhavan (President’s House), Parliament House and the Secretariat buildings. Later, visit Humayun’s Tomb, an important example of Mughal architecture, followed by Qutub Minar before returning to your hotel.

Overnight in Delhi.

After breakfast, leave Delhi and travel by road to Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan. Often referred to as the ‘Pink City’, Jaipur is known for its distinctive architecture, historic palaces and forts, colourful bazaars and rich Rajput heritage.

Upon arrival, check in at your hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure to relax or explore the local area independently.

Overnight in Jaipur.

After breakfast, join your local guide for a sightseeing tour of Jaipur, beginning with Amber Fort, set on a hillside overlooking the surrounding landscape. Explore the fort complex and its courtyards, halls and palaces, including the Sheesh Mahal, known for its intricate mirror work, the decorated Ganesh Pol gateway and the Diwan-i-Aam.

Return to the city and continue to the City Palace, a historic complex featuring courtyards, gateways and palace buildings. Continue to Jantar Mantar, the historic astronomical observatory, before stopping for photographs at the distinctive Hawa Mahal (Palace of the Winds).

Where time permits, there will also be an opportunity to explore one of Jaipur’s local bazaars before returning to your hotel.

Overnight in Jaipur.

After breakfast, leave Jaipur and travel by road to Agra, situated on the banks of the River Yamuna. Agra was an important centre of the Mughal Empire and today is renowned for its Mughal architecture and traditional crafts, including marble inlay work.

Upon arrival, check in at your hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure to relax and settle in ahead of the following day’s sightseeing.

Overnight in Agra.

After breakfast, join your local guide for a sightseeing tour of Agra, beginning with the Taj Mahal. Commissioned by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal, this celebrated white-marble mausoleum is renowned for its symmetry, intricate inlay work and Mughal architecture.

Continue to Agra Fort, an imposing red-sandstone fortress that served as an important residence of the Mughal emperors. Explore the accessible areas of the fort complex with your local guide and learn about its palaces, courtyards and audience halls.

After sightseeing, leave Agra and travel by road back to Delhi. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel and check in.

Overnight in Delhi.

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight from Delhi to Colombo, continuing your journey to Sri Lanka.

Upon arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport, you will be met by our local representative and transferred by road to Sigiriya. Along the way, you will begin to see Sri Lanka’s tropical landscapes, rural communities and countryside as you travel towards the island’s Cultural Triangle.

Upon arrival in Sigiriya, check in at your hotel and spend the remainder of the day at leisure.

After breakfast, enjoy the day at leisure or choose to join an optional visit to Sigiriya Rock Fortress, available at an additional cost. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Sigiriya is one of Sri Lanka’s most important archaeological sites, with landscaped gardens, water features, frescoes and the remains of an ancient palace complex.

Those wishing to reach the upper levels can climb the series of pathways and staircases leading towards the summit. The climb involves numerous steps, steep sections and heights and requires a reasonable level of physical fitness. Those who prefer not to undertake the full climb may explore the accessible lower areas of the site.

In the afternoon, you may choose to join an optional Jeep safari in Minneriya National Park, also available at an additional cost. The park is known for its elephant population and a variety of other wildlife and birdlife. Wildlife sightings are dependent on natural conditions and cannot be guaranteed. The national park visited may also be changed locally depending on wildlife movements, weather and park conditions.

Overnight in Sigiriya.

After breakfast, join your local guide for a visit to the Dambulla Cave Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Sri Lanka’s most significant Buddhist temple complexes. Set within a series of caves, the site contains an extensive collection of Buddha statues, religious artwork and historic murals. Please note that reaching the cave temples involves walking and climbing a number of steps.

Continue with a local village experience, offering an introduction to rural life and traditional customs in the Dambulla area. Depending on local conditions and arrangements on the day, the experience may include a combination of village activities, local transport and an introduction to traditional Sri Lankan food and everyday life.

After the visit, return to your hotel and enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure.

Overnight in Sigiriya.

After breakfast, leave Sigiriya and travel towards Kandy, stopping en route at a spice garden in Matale. During your visit, learn about some of the spices and plants traditionally grown in Sri Lanka, such as cinnamon, cardamom and nutmeg, and their uses in local cooking and traditional practices.

Continue to Kandy, the historic hill city that served as the last capital of Sri Lanka’s ancient kings. Surrounded by hills and centred around Kandy Lake, the city remains an important cultural and religious centre. Upon arrival, check in at your hotel.

In the evening, attend a traditional cultural show featuring performances of Sri Lankan dance and drumming. Afterwards, return to your hotel.

After breakfast, join your local guide for a sightseeing tour of Kandy, the historic hill capital and a UNESCO World Heritage city.

Visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic (Sri Dalada Maligawa), one of Sri Lanka’s most important Buddhist sites. Located beside Kandy Lake, the temple is traditionally believed to house a sacred tooth relic of the Buddha and has played an important role in the country’s religious and royal history. Please dress respectfully when visiting the temple, with shoulders and knees covered, and footwear must be removed before entering the temple area.

Continue to the Royal Botanical Gardens at Peradeniya, situated near the Mahaweli River. Explore the gardens with your local guide, including its collection of tropical plants, palms, orchids and established trees.

After sightseeing, return to your hotel and enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure.

Overnight in Kandy.

After breakfast, leave Kandy and travel by road through Sri Lanka’s central highlands towards Nuwara Eliya. The journey takes you through a region characterised by hills, tea-growing areas and small highland communities.

Upon arrival in Nuwara Eliya, check in at your hotel. Often referred to as ‘Little England’, the town is known for its cooler highland climate and architecture reflecting aspects of its British colonial history.

The remainder of the day is at leisure to relax or explore the local area independently.

After breakfast, transfer to the railway station for your train journey to Ella, travelling through Sri Lanka’s central highlands. The route passes through tea-growing areas, hills and rural communities as the train makes its way towards Ella.

Upon arrival in Ella, you will be met by our local representative and continue by road to Beruwala on Sri Lanka’s southwest coast.

Upon arrival in Beruwala, check in at your hotel and enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure.

After breakfast, enjoy a day at leisure in Beruwala. Relax at your hotel, spend time by the coast or enjoy the day at your own pace.

Alternatively, you may choose to join an optional full-day excursion to Yala National Park, available at an additional cost. The excursion involves an early start and a lengthy journey by road from Beruwala to Yala and back, together with a Jeep safari inside the national park.

Yala National Park is home to a variety of wildlife, including elephants, leopards, deer, crocodiles and numerous species of birds. As this is a natural wildlife experience, specific wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed. The safari and park access are also subject to local weather, road and park conditions.

After the safari, return by road to Beruwala for your overnight stay.

After breakfast, enjoy a full day at leisure in Beruwala. There are no organised activities included today, giving you the freedom to relax at your hotel, spend time by the coast or explore the local area independently at your own pace.

You may also choose to make use of the facilities and activities available locally, with any additional services or arrangements payable directly as applicable.

Overnight in Beruwala.

After breakfast, enjoy some time at leisure before your transfer to Colombo International Airport for your onward flight.

If you would prefer to stay a little longer, you can choose to extend your stay in Beruwala for a few additional nights at the same hotel, giving you more time to relax before returning home.

Alternatively, extend your holiday with a Maldives beach stay, combining your India and Sri Lanka journey with a few additional nights in the Maldives before your return flight home.
