Day 4 : DELHI – VARANASI (BY FLIGHT)

Morning after breakfast, you will be provided assisted departure transfer to Delhi airport to board the flight for Varanasi.

Arrive at Varanasi airport and transfer to the Hotel, check-in at the hotel.

Varanasi, the ‘eternal city’, Varanasi or Benares, is one of the most important pilgrimage sites in India, and the Ganges, which flows through the city, is believed to have the power to wash away the sins of mortals. For the Satpious Hindu, the city has always been a special place, and it is considered a particularly auspicious place to die, ensuring an instant routing to Heaven.

Later in the evening, watch the illuminated Aarti ceremony that is performed at Dasahwamedh Ghat. The presiding priests stand on a wooden Chauki in the water. To the chant of Sanskrit mantras and the clash of cymbals and drums, the river is worshipped with flowers, incense, sandalwood, milk, and vermilion.

First the blazing camphor lamp and then the many flamed aarti lamps are raised high and then arched back to the water, the dark river reflecting the golden flames as Ganges accepts the worship. It is the Ganges that gives Varanasi its spiritual resonance.

Overnight at hotel.
 Day 5 : VARANASI

Morning boat ride on the river Ganges Discover India’s spirituality from another perspective — by taking an unforgettable sunrise boat ride on the Ganges, floating past ghats as worshippers begin to appear on the banks. Varanasi's unique culture is associated with the river Ganges, where life and death intermingle. The living flock to the ghats to pray with the belief that bathing in the waters of the sacred river would result in the remission of their sins, while the ashes of the dead are scattered in the water to break the cycle of reincarnation and let the soul rise to enlightenment.

Morning, visit some of the other important sites in the city with your guide. Dotted with temples, the city's principle shrine is the Vishwanath temple, dedicated to Shiva. The temple was destroyed repeatedly during various invasions but was finally rebuilt in 1776 A.D. by Rani Ahilyabai of Indore.

Return to the hotel after breakfast and transfer city tour of Varanasi.

Afternoon take an excursion to the Buddhist city of Sarnath just outside Varanasi, the place Buddha chose to deliver his first sermon. Sarnath is as holy to the Buddhists as Varanasi is to the Hindus. Explore the ruins of a once-flourishing Buddhist monastery and look around a museum with an interesting collection of Buddhist art and sculpture. The Ashoka pillar of Sarnath is the National emblem of India.

Rest of the evening at leisure. Overnight at hotel
Day 6 : VARANASI - AGRA (BY FLIGHT)

Morning after breakfast you will be provided assisted departure transfer to the airport to board the flight for Agra.

It has many wonderful monuments and the Taj Mahal, the greatest of them all, is a masterpiece of Mughal architecture at its best.

Upon arrival check in at the hotel.

Overnight at the hotel.
 Day 7 : AGRA

Morning after breakfast, city tour of Agra. Places to visit: Taj Mahal (Closed on Friday), The Taj Mahal was built by an emperor in memory of his beloved queen. Construction of the Taj Mahal began in 1631 and is believed to have taken 18 years to complete, with over 20,000 craftsmen working around the clock. The design and construction are said to be that of the legendary architect, Ustad Ahamad Lahori. What makes the Taj Mahal unique is its perfect proportions, distinct femininity, medium of construction, and ornamentation. Its marble exterior reflects rose and golden tints at sunrise and sunset, while it is dazzling white during the day. It is impossible to visualize the Taj Mahal in any surroundings other than its paradoxical garden. Paradise, in Islam, is visualized as a lush garden where running streams flow.

Also visit the Agra Fort, an outstanding example of Mughal architecture. Agra Fort - the seat and the stronghold of the Mughal Empire under successive generations. This was the seat of Mughal rule and administration and the present structure owes its origins to Akbar who erected the walls and gates and the first buildings on the eastern banks of Yamuna River.

Overnight at the hotel.
 Day 8 : AGRA - RANTHAMBORE

After breakfast, drive to Ranthambore en route, you will visit Fatehpur Sikri, a spacious red sandstone city built in the 16th century by the Mughal Emperor Akbar, one of India’s greatest rulers.

Ranthambore National Park Covering 410 sq. km, Ranthambore runs along the easternmost spur of the Aravalli to the Vindhya ranges. At one time, Ranthambore was the private hunting ground for the Royal family of Jaipur before being declared a Sanctuary. In 1972 it was brought under the Project Tiger scheme. The dry deciduous forest covers open valleys with lush vegetation around the lakes and open grasslands on the higher slopes. This varied flora supports a large number of animals including a variety of deer, the sloth bear, the shy caracal, leopards, and of course, the tiger.

Once on top, stroll through the sprawling complex of courtyards and halls, many of the rooms have delightful wall paintings, with precious stones and mirrors inlaid in the walls. Most fascinating, perhaps, is the Sheesh Mahal (hall of mirrors) where a single lamplight is reflected in the many mirrors, lighting up the room.

In the afternoon, visit City Palace, which is an overwhelming complex of exquisite palaces, gardens courtyards, decorative art, and carved doorways. The palace museum houses collections of rare manuscripts, armory, costumes, carpets, and miniature paintings.

Also visit the Jantar Mantar, which is the most famous of the five observatories built by Sawai Jai Singh in India. Jai Singh was a great admirer of progress and research made in the fields of science and technology, but he was passionate about astronomy.

More readily called the camel country; the city is distinguished for the best riding camels in the world and hence boasts of having one of the largest Camel research and breading farms in the world. The ship of the desert is an inseparable part of life here. A camel besides doing transportation duties, also works on wells. These are built on high plinths with slender minarets on each of the four corners and can be noticed even from a distance.

Upon arrival proceed to check in at your hotel. Overnight at the hotel.
 Day 15 : BIKANER

After breakfast, you will proceed sightseeing in Bikaner. Visit Junagarh Fort, one of the most interesting forts in Rajasthan, with its sumptuously decorated interiors. Built in 1588 by Raja Rai Singh it is unusual in the sense that it was one of the few major forts of Rajasthan that was not built on a hilltop. Instead, it was built on the desert plains; its rugged sandstone bastions and graceful pavilions and balconies are silhouetted against the sky. You will also visit a Camel research breeding farm. This is a one-of-a-kind institute in India.

The rest of the day is free at leisure.

Overnight at the hotel.
 Day 16 : BIKANER – JAISALMER

Breakfast at hotel. Check out and drive to Jaisalmer. Jaisalmer, the golden beauty etched in yellow sandstone, standing tall against miles of gleaming sand. Founded in 1156 AD by Maharawal Jaisal, Jaisalmer’s location kept it almost untouched by outside influences and even during the days of the Raj, Jaisalmer was the last to sign the Instrument of Agreement with the British. Very few cities can boast of the magnificence that surrounds Jaisalmer. There is a fort that seems to rise out of a desert haze, its yellow sandstone walls and bastions taking on a golden hue in the afternoon sun, which is why it is aptly called Sonar Kila or the Golden Fort.

Upon arrival, check-in at the hotel.

Overnight at the hotel.
 Day 17 : JAISALMER

After breakfast, proceed for a visit to Jaisalmer including Jaisalmer Fort, which is also known as Sonar Qila (the Golden Fort). The Jaisalmer fort shimmers like a mirage amidst the desolate beauty of the hot barren deserts of Rajasthan. Built-in 1156 by the Bhati Rajput ruler Jaisala and reinforced by subsequent rulers, the fort situated on the Trikuta Hill had been the scene of many battles.

The city of Jaisalmer is also famous for its intricately latticed Havelis, built by wealthy merchants. The Patwon-Ki-Haveli is one of the most elaborate and magnificent of all Jaisalmer havelis.

Nathmalji ki Haveli is a late 19th-century mansion that was built for Diwan Mohata Nathmal, then Prime Minister of Jaisalmer. Designed by two Muslim brothers Hathi and Lulu, the left and right wings of the haveli were carved out differently by the two brothers.

Evening enjoy Camels and Sand Dunes, as the Royalty traversed stretches of desert on camels, the evenings see you astride colorfully caparisoned camels led by ethnically dressed butlers as you begin your sojourn of miles of shimmering sand dunes into the sunset. Lounging on the dunes, one can only gaze in breathless wonderment as the sun begins to go down and casts an ember halo over the desert horizon.

Overnight at the hotel.
