Today you begin your journey by boarding your outbound flight to Hanoi. If either of your outbound or inbound flights depart in the early hours (before 4:00 am), you will have to arrive at the airport the night before the indicated departure date/day.

 Day 02 : HANOI ARRIVAL

Welcome to Hanoi, the capital city of Vietnam.

Upon arrival, greeted by the local tour guide and transferred downtown. Check-in at your hotel.

 Day 03 : HANOI FULL DAY CITY TOUR (B,L)

After enjoying breakfast at your hotel, our van will pick you up at 8:00 am to begin the day's activities. Our first stop is the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, where you can learn about the incredible life of Uncle Ho and pay your respects to him. We will also visit the Presidential Palace and its residential place.

Our next stop is the nearby Temple of Literature, which was built in the twelfth century and was the site of Vietnam's first university. Here, you can learn about Confucius's theory and even enjoy a traditional music performance.

For lunch, we'll head to a local restaurant for a taste of authentic Hanoi Pho, a delicious noodle soup. In the afternoon, you can choose to visit one of the numerous museums or temples around Hanoi, such as the Museum of Ethnology, Women's Museum, History Museum, or Quan Thanh Temple.

Later in the afternoon, we'll take a relaxing stroll around Hoan Kiem Lake and explore Hanoi's fascinating Old Quarter. Here, you can enjoy some great shopping and try some street-side traditional food, like the famous "Hanoi bia." This is a wonderful opportunity to experience the typical Hanoian style and traditional Vietnamese culture.

To cap off the day, you can choose to attend the Water Puppet Show, a beloved experience for all visitors to Vietnam. Please inform your Tour Operator if you would like to book a ticket, as there is an additional cost of approximately US $6.00 per ticket.

After a fun and informative day, we'll check in to our hotel and stay overnight in Hanoi.
 Day 04 : HALONG BAY WITH OVERNIGHT ON A CRUISE (B,L,D)

After enjoying breakfast at your hotel, our private mini-van/bus will pick you up between 8:30 am to 9:00 am to begin your journey to Halong City. During the 3.5-hour drive, you will have the opportunity to view the simple countryside and rice paddy life along the way. Once you arrive at the port, you will board your private boat - an authentic Chinese Junk - and begin your amazing cruise through the stunning Halong Bay, a World Heritage Site. Lunch will be served on board and will consist of a selection of the freshest seafood.

During the cruise, we will visit "the Amazing Cave" and then take a swim in the tranquil emerald waters of Halong Bay. We will then cruise further into a quiet area where we will anchor and spend the night. You will enjoy dinner and relax as the sun sets over the bay. Afterward, you are free to swim in the phosphorescent water, retire to your cabin, or even fall asleep under the stars on the top deck, surrounded by the magic of Halong. You will spend the night on the boat, taking in the stunning surroundings of the bay.

 Day 05 : HALONG BAY CRUISE – HANOI/FLY TO HOI AN (B,L)

Wake up early in the morning to witness a beautiful sunrise and breathe in the fresh ocean air. Enjoy breakfast served on the boat as we leisurely cruise through thousands of stunning and seemingly never-ending islands. This is an amazing opportunity to capture some breathtaking photographs of the scenery. We will also make a stop to visit a floating fishing village and hear legendary stories of the fishermen's daily life.

Lunch will be served on the boat as we cruise back to the Halong City pier. From there, we will return to Hanoi. You will arrive in Hanoi around 3:30 pm to 4:00 pm.  Lumle representative; will be waiting for you to take you directly to the airport for your flight to Hoi An.

Upon arrival in Hoi An, our staff will pick you up and transfer you to your hotel for check-in. You will have some free time to explore the ancient town of Hoi An and its many attractions at your own pace. You may also choose to stroll along the picturesque streets or try some local delicacies.

 Day 06 : HOI AN EXCURSION / THU BON RIVER BOAT TRIP (B)

Enjoy a full-day excursion to Hoi An, a charming and historic trading center that was once known as “Faifo” to the earliest Western traders. It was also an important port for the Dutch, Portuguese, Italian, Chinese, Japanese, and other merchant vessels from the Far East. Your tour will start with a visit to a temple located in the center of Hoi An. The temple has partially gilded statues and reflects the influences of Chinese and Japanese styles. You will also visit a pagoda that is dedicated to sailors and fishermen and a chapel that has origins dating back to the 1700s.

Next, you will stop at the Sa Huynh Museum, which is located near the iconic Japanese Covered Bridge. The museum contains exhibitions from the earliest period of Hoi An’s history, offering a glimpse into the city's rich and fascinating past.

Later in the afternoon, you will take a boat trip on the Thu Bon River to Kim Bong Village on Cam Kim Island. Here, you will see the skilled woodworkers and shipbuilding families practicing their craft for generations. It's a unique opportunity to experience the traditional way of life in this part of Vietnam.

Finally, you will return to your haven on the world-famous “Cua Dai Beach.” Spend the evening at your leisure, relaxing on the beautiful beach and enjoying the stunning scenery.

 Day 07 : HOI AN TO HUE BY ROAD (B)

After having breakfast at your hotel, at 9:00 am, Lumle representative will pick you up and take you to Hue City. On the way, you will stop at Cham Museum and Ngu Hanh Son Mountain in Da Nang. You will need to purchase the tickets for these attractions on your own. Then, continue your trip with the driver to Hai Van Pass, where you can take in the stunning views of Son Tra Peninsula from the top. Have a short break at Lang Co Beach before arriving in Hue City in the afternoon. Check in at your hotel and have some free time to explore the imperial city.

 Day 08 : DISCOVERING HUE’S IMPERIAL TREASURES AND LOCAL DELIGHTS/FLY TO HO CHI MINH CITY (B,L)

Start your day with a delicious breakfast at the hotel and get ready for a delightful boat trip along the Perfume River, one of Hue's most romantic and scenic attractions. You will visit Thien Mu Pagoda, an ancient and revered site that offers stunning views of the river and surrounding greenery. Your knowledgeable guide will share fascinating stories about the history and cultural significance of the pagoda.

Next, you will visit the mausoleums of Emperor Khai Dinh and Tu Duc, two of the most iconic and historic landmarks in Hue. Marvel at the intricate architecture and elaborate designs of these tombs, which were built to honor the Nguyen Dynasty's rulers.

After the morning sightseeing, it's time for lunch at a local restaurant. Enjoy delicious traditional Vietnamese cuisine and immerse yourself in the local dining culture. The restaurant provides an authentic experience, giving you the chance to savor the flavors of Hue and learn more about its culinary traditions.

In the afternoon, continue your Hue sightseeing tour by exploring the Imperial Citadel, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that showcases the grandeur and sophistication of the Nguyen Dynasty. Visit the Purple Forbidden City, an exclusive domain of the emperors and their royal family. Learn about the fascinating history and architecture of the city and marvel at the intricate details of the buildings.

Next, visit Thuy Xuan's incense-making village, where you can witness the traditional process of making incense and learn about its cultural significance in Vietnam. Get an insight into the local way of life and take in the aromatic fragrances of the incense.

Finally, head to Dong Ba market, the largest and most vibrant market in Hue, where you can shop for souvenirs, handicrafts, and local specialties. Take in the bustling atmosphere of the market and explore the colorful stalls selling an array of items.

As the day comes to an end, bid farewell to Hue City and transfer to the airport for your flight to Ho Chi Minh City. Upon arrival, our team will pick you up and transfer you to your hotel for check-in.

 Day 09 : HO CHI MINH CITY – CU CHI TUNNELS (B,L)

After enjoying breakfast at the hotel, embark on a fascinating journey through the highlights of Ho Chi Minh City. Visit the Notre Dame Cathedral, a stunning example of neo-Romanesque architecture built by the French in the 19th century. Next, stop at the historic Central Post Office, designed by Gustave Eiffel and featuring a beautiful interior of intricate maps, intricate designs, and arched windows. Then, explore the Reunification Palace, the former presidential palace of South Vietnam and a symbol of the country's tumultuous past.

After a break for lunch at a local restaurant, the afternoon takes you to the famous Cu Chi Tunnels, a popular destination for both Vietnamese and foreign tourists. The tunnels, which span over 200km, played a critical role during the Vietnam War and were functioning underground cities that included trap doors, living areas, storage facilities, weapon factories, field hospitals, command centers, and kitchens. You will learn about the construction of the tunnels and spend the next few hours exploring the tunnels and war remnants, gaining insights into the harsh conditions and ingenious methods used to maintain life in the tunnels. You'll even have a chance to sample some of the simple cuisine that local fighters survived on and venture into the tunnels to experience the complex firsthand.

After the tour, return to your hotel in Ho Chi Minh City for a comfortable overnight stay. The distance between Saigon and Cu Chi Tunnel is approximately 75 km, which takes about 1.5 hours to drive.

 Day 10 : HCMC – MY THO – BEN TRE – CAN THO (B,L)

You will be picked up at your hotel in Ho Chi Minh City at 8:00 am. Then, you will leave the city and enjoy the scenic journey along the National Highway, bordered by green rice fields. Upon arriving at My Tho, you will visit Vinh Trang Pagoda and take a leisurely boat ride along the river, where you will be able to view stilt houses, fruit plantations, and fishing villages along the riverbank. Next, you will proceed to Tortoise Islet to have lunch in the orchard garden. Afterward, you will take a boat ride to An Khanh, which is a less touristy attraction in Ben Tre. Here, you can enjoy cruising on a hand-rowed sampan under the shade of water coconut trees along natural canals. You will also have the opportunity to enjoy seasonal fruit and honey tea while listening to "Southern Vietnamese folk music" performed by locals. Additionally, you will visit a family business that epitomizes the idyllic rural lifestyle, taste delicious coconut candy, and observe the pastoral life as you roam through the fruit plantations and villages. Finally, you will proceed to Can Tho, where you will stay overnight in a hotel. However, a family homestay with dinner can be arranged upon request. During your free time in Can Tho, you can visit the bustling Can Tho market. Please note that pick-up at your hotel in Ho Chi Minh City is included.

 Day 11 : CAN THO – CHAU DOC – TRA SU SANCTUARY (B,L)

Take a leisurely boat trip to explore the picturesque tributaries of the Lower Mekong River (Bassac River). Then, proceed to visit the Cai Rang floating market, which is one of the liveliest markets in the whole region (Phong Dien is optional). Have you ever tasted Vietnamese vermicelli soup? If not, now is your chance to see how it's made. Afterward, take a stroll around the village, meet the friendly local people, and experience crossing a "Monkey bridge," which is built using only one stem of bamboo. Visit the orchard garden and stop for lunch. Then, proceed to Chau Doc and continue the tour by visiting Tra Su. Here, you can discover the wild birds in Sanctuary by cruising smoothly with small boats and exploring the splendid canals deep into the forest. You will have the opportunity to observe storks, cranes, and other tropical birds. On the way back, stop by to visit Sam Mountain and the Cave Pagoda (if time permits). Finally, return to town, check into the hotel, and spend the night in Chau Doc.

 Day 12 : CHAU DOC – PHNOM PENH (B)

Wake up early at 7:00 am to prepare for your transfer to Chau Doc harbor, where you will board an express boat that will take you to Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Our team will pick you up upon arrival at the border and assist you with the immigration process before accompanying you to the harbor.

The express boat journey is expected to take approximately 5 hours, and you will arrive in Phnom Penh between 12:30 pm to 1:00 pm. Upon arrival, our team will be waiting for you to transfer you to your hotel in Phnom Penh for check-in.

After check-in, the rest of the day is free for you to explore the city at your leisure. Take a stroll around the vibrant streets, visit local markets, or indulge in some authentic Cambodian cuisine.

 Day 13 : PHNOM PENH SIGHTSEEING FULL DAY (B,L)

After enjoying breakfast at the hotel, start your exploration of Phnom Penh, a city that's always full of energy and excitement. The boulevards lined with trees and riverfront promenades that remain from previous eras are now bustling with activity, with motorcycles darting in and out of traffic, vendors selling their wares, and locals going about their daily routines. Begin your tour with a visit to the Royal Palace, which is still the official residence of King Norodom Sihamoni, and the adjacent Silver Pagoda, also known as the Pagoda of the Emerald Buddha. Gain an insight into Cambodia's cultural heritage as you explore these sites.

Next, head to the National Museum, an elegant building that houses a vast collection of Khmer art. Afterward, venture out to one of the city's two major markets, the Central Market, housed in a unique Art Deco building (though currently under construction, it can still be visited), or the sprawling Russian Market, a labyrinthine complex of stalls selling everything from DVDs and CDs to crafts, silk, and jewelry.

In the afternoon, take an excursion to the Killing Fields of Choeung Ek, located just outside of Phnom Penh. This serene, rural area is a somber reminder of the atrocities that occurred during the Pol Pot regime between 1975 and 1978. Thousands of individuals were executed and buried in mass graves on these grounds.

Finally, visit the Tuol Sleng Museum (Museum of Genocide), previously the Tuol Svay Prey High School, which was transformed into an interrogation and torture facility by the Khmer Rouge regime in 1975, known as Security Prison 21 or S-21. The prison has been largely preserved, showcasing photographs and exhibits that provide a glimpse into the thousands of individuals who passed through its doors, with only seven surviving.

The tour concludes at 6:00 pm, after which you will be transferred back to your hotel to check in and spend the night in Phnom Penh.
 Day 14 : PHNOM PENH – SIEM REAP – ANGKOR COMPLEX (B,L)

This morning, you will board a flight to Siem Reap, where you will begin your tour of the Small Circuit. This tour includes several important sites, such as the enormous pyramid of Takeo and the jungle-covered Ta Prohm, which was famously featured in the Hollywood movie Tomb Raider. Next, you will visit Sras Srang, also known as the King's bathing pond, and Banteay Kdei, before exploring Prasat Kravan, an elegant brick temple.

After a well-deserved lunch break, you will continue your exploration by visiting the impressive Royal City of Angkor Thom. Here, you will find the Bayon, a temple known for its numerous gigantic carved faces smiling down at you. You will also visit other important sites in this vast walled city, such as the pyramid of Baphuon, Phimeanakas, and the royal viewing stands known as the Terrace of the Elephants and the Terrace of the Leper King. If time permits, your guide will take you to an excellent spot to witness a breathtaking Angkor Wat sunset.

In the evening, you will have free time to relax and explore Siem Reap at your leisure. The distance between your hotel in Phnom Penh and the airport is approximately 8 km, which should take around 15 minutes to drive. The distance between Siem Reap airport and your hotel is approximately 10 km, which should also take around 15 minutes to drive.

 Day 15 : ANGKOR WAT – BANTEAY SREY (B,D)

Sunrise at Angkor Wat is a breathtaking experience that you may choose to witness today by waking up early. After being awed by the sun rising from behind Angkor Wat's five carved towers, you can return to your hotel for breakfast. Following breakfast, it is time to further explore the magnificent Angkor Wat, which is the largest religious building in the world.

In the afternoon, you will head 30km north to visit the captivating and beautiful temple of Banteay Srei, also known as the Fortress of the Women. The journey will allow you to experience the beautiful Cambodian countryside as you pass through small typical villages. On the way, you will visit Banteay Samre. Banteay Srei is an elaborately decorated temple, embellished with floral motifs and scenes from the Ramayana, all carved from pink sandstone. It is said that the carvings must have been done by women, as the details are too fine for the hands of a man.

In the evening, you will enjoy dinner and a fascinating Apsara dance show at a local restaurant.
 Day 16 : SIEM REAP TO BANGKOK BY FLIGHT (B)

After enjoying breakfast at your hotel in Siem Reap, you will have some free time to relax or explore the city on your own. Later, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Bangkok. Upon arrival in Bangkok, you will be picked up from the airport and transferred to your hotel for check-in. The rest of the day is free for you to explore the bustling city of Bangkok, known for its vibrant street life, delicious food, and rich culture.

 Day 17 : HALF- DAY ROYAL GRAND PALACE AND TEMPLE TOUR (B)

After breakfast, prepare to spend half a day exploring three of the most important Buddhist temples in Bangkok. Begin at Wat Traimit, also known as the temple of the Golden Buddha, which houses a 3-meter-tall statue made from solid gold that weighs 5.5 tonnes. Then pass through Chinatown on your way to Wat Pho, the temple of the Reclining Buddha and home to the Chedis of the Kings. This 46-meter-long and 15-meter-high Buddha is the largest in Bangkok, and it illustrates the passing of the Buddha into nirvana. The Grand Palace, the former residence of the Kings of Bangkok, is one of the most beautiful examples of an ancient Siamese court. Here you will see a variety of palaces used for different occasions: the Funeral Palace, the Reception Palace, the Throne Hall, the Coronation Hall, the Royal Guest House, and the beautiful Emerald Buddha Temple. To round off the tour, call in at a local lapidary factory and showroom where you will be able to get locally-made jewelry, handicrafts, and silk at competitive prices.

 Day 18 : RAILWAY MARKET AND DAMNERN SADUAK FLOATING MARKET (B)

Depart from Bangkok and head to Maeklong Railway Market, also known as Talad Rom Hoop. Upon arrival, the guide will introduce you to the history of this area. See the action several minutes before the train passes through the market. The process happens so quickly that it will amaze you for the unique moment. Then go to the world-famous floating market of “Damnoen Saduak”, there are countless floating markets throughout the country, and the colorfully clad merchants at these lively markets paddle along congested canals in sturdy canoes laden with fresh fruits and vegetables to sell to shoppers on the banks. This is an exciting and fun way to see what the locals like and to go bargain hunting. Transfer back to Bangkok. Breakfast included.

 Day 19 : BANGKOK – KRABI (30km – 30min / 80min flight, not included / 15km – 30min) (B)

Wake up to breakfast at the hotel before enjoying some free time to spend at leisure before the unescorted transfer to Bangkok Airport, where you’ll catch your flight to Krabi (flight not included). Upon landing at Krabi Airport, head to the Arrivals hall where you will find a driver holding a sign with your name on it. You will then be transferred to your hotel, where you can settle in before spending the rest of this first day at your leisure.

Half-Day Krabi 4 Islands by Speed Boat – English (Available Daily): Shared activity. Start at 08:00 to 01:00 pm. Pick-up from your hotel’s lobby. Transfers: included. Meals: not included. National Park Fee: not included. Dress code: Casual. Comfortable and light clothing is recommended. Description: Take advantage of this half-day excursion and explore the 4 islands of Krabi: Phra Nang cave, Tup Island, Chicken Island, and Poda Island. The trip will start when you are picked up from your hotel and transferred to the quay on the Krabi River. The first stop is Pranang Beach is one of the most well-known beaches in all of Asia, renowned for its spectacular stalactites. Tup Island where at low tide a sandbar emerges from the clear waters linking the larger Chicken Island to the two smaller islands of Koh Mor and Tup, this picturesque and unique occurrence is commonly referred to as Talay Waek which means divided sea. Chicken Island is a natural landmark named after the shape of its unique rock jutting out into the sea. Triple Room : The third bed will be a rollaway bed.

Wheelchair access : The hotels and tours are not suitable for wheelchair users. E-Ticket : Please remember to print your e-ticket to confirm the times of your flights and to complete online check-in using the airline’s website, or directly at the check-in desk at the airport.

Group : In Cambodia & Vietnam you will travel in a group of minimum 02 and maximum 20 people

Vietnam Visa : Please note that to visit Vietnam, Irish passport holders are required an e-tourist visa. E-visa must be arranged in advance (before traveling) through this link https://evisa.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn/trang-chu-ttdt You MUST select the port of entry as per your itinerary to be allowed to enter Vietnam. UK passport holders are exempt of this requirement for stays up to 15 days.

Cambodia Visa : To have a better experience, we recommend that you apply for your tourist visa for Cambodia online as it will reduce your transit time at the border control.

You can obtain your Cambodian tourist visa in the following ways:

  1. Online: Apply for your E-VISA for Cambodia at least 7 days before your holiday. Click on this link https://www.evisa.gov.kh and select ‘VISA T’, the cost is approximately USD $36. The port of entry will be the port of entry in border control as per your itinerary. 
  2. On Arrival: If for any reason you are unable to procure your Cambodian e-visa online don’t worry, you will have an option to gain a visa at the Cambodian border control on arrival. We recommend that you bring a ‘passport’ photo (35 x 45 mm) with you and USD $36 for the payment.

While a Cambodian Visa can also be procured at the destination, VIETNAM VISA MUST BE PROCURED IN ADVANCE TO BE ABLE TO ENTER THE COUNTRY. (Required for Irish passport holders).

Passport : Please note that your passport MUST be valid for a minimum of 6 months after the validation date of your visa.

Travel Documents : Please ensure you take all your final travel documents with you to Cambodia & Vietnam.

Personal Information : Please ensure that your details are filled in identically to the data on your passport. If this information does not match, you cannot travel to and from your destination. Amendment to this information if entered incorrectly will result in additional charges. If married, please fill in your surname as it appears on your passport.

Tour Itinerary : Please note that in exceptional circumstances viz adverse weather conditions, for safety reasons or for any other reasons deemed appropriate, the itinerary and/or excursions included in the program may be subject to change or cancelled without any notice for reasons outside of the control of Lumle Holidays.

Vaccination : If you are travelling to Cambodia & Vietnam, you may need to be vaccinated. For the most up-to-date health advice, you should visit your local doctor/GP or visit www.gov.uk

Tipping : Tipping in Vietnam ultimately depends on your discretion, yet it is typical for servers or service providers to expect it. In these cases, please bear in mind that, the typical tipping standard is around $4/person/day for guides, and half of that for drivers and servers.

Domestic Baggage : Cambodia & Vietnam domestic flights baggage restrictions:

  • Vietnam Airline : 1 checked bag of 23kg and 1 hand baggage of 12kg per person.
  • Bamboo Airways: 1 checked bag of 20kg and 01 hand baggage of 7kg per person.
  • Cambodian Angkor : 1 checked bag of 23kg and 1 hand baggage of 7kg per person.

Optional activities/sightseeing : Sightseeing as per the itinerary is supported by the local English-speaking guide. Please note that, the optional activities/sightseeing are not exclusive to Lumle customers and groups will be mixed with customers from other travel companies.

Halong Bay Cruise : Each cruise is only permitted to pick one routing/itinerary to either Ha Long Bay or Lan Ha Bay. Routing/itinerary is subject to change without earlier notification according to the weather conditions or local administration regulations.

Transportation : Transportation is based on air-condition tourist vehicle. Transfers are assisted without English speaking guide.

Wi-Fi : While on road travel, it is highly unlikely that your transportation will be equipped with Wi-Fi or bathroom facilities, though rest stops will take place for long-distance journeys. We recommend purchasing a new SIM card at the airport or placing an e-SIM before travel to guarantee data with an internet connection.

What do I need to bring?

  • Comfortable and light clothing is the most suitable for traveling in Cambodia & Vietnam.
  • Visitors should not wear sleeveless shirts, shorts, short skirts, or skimpy clothing when visiting temples, religious or official buildings.
  • Shoes should be removed before entering a temple or private house.
  • Sun protection, sunglasses, a hat, and mosquito repellent can be very useful during your stay.
