Upon arrival, you will be met by driver and guide who will remain with you for the rest of your holiday. Then you will drive one-and-a-half-hour journey from Paro airport to Thimpu. The road into Thimpu closely follows the Paro Chhu (river) offering scenic views back across the Paro valley.

Evening time at your leisure.

Dinner and overnight at hotel.

Day 04 | Thimphu

Today you have a full day today to discover Thimpu with your driver and guide. The Thimphu city is best explored on foot, but your driver is the standby if you wish to visit one of the sites of interest located in the surrounding.

Some of the great spots you will visit are Buddha point; National Institute for Zorig Chusum; Folk Heritage Museum and Tashichhodzong. The National Memorial Chorten is of particular interest, built in honour of the third king. Every day many Bhutanese visits to pray and spin the vibrant prayer wheels – it’s a great sight to people watch.

Dinner and overnight at hotel.

Day 05 | Thimpu – Punakha

Today you will have a scenic drive to Punakha, over the Dochu La pass offering stunning views. The scenic drive takes about three hours; Enroute it’s worth stopping to visit the Chimi Lhakhang temple (a temple dedicated to the divine Madman) before reaching Punakha. You will have a short walk through rice paddy field; particularly a memorable way to arrive at the temple as it can’t be reached by road. Upon arrival in Punakha check into your hotel and have the remaining part of the day free to rest & relax.

Dinner and overnight at hotel.

Day 06 | Punakha

Today your guide will show you around Punakha. You will visit Punakha Dzong; temples; towers and courtyards. Over the years, it has suffered from several fires and flooding but it’s still one of the most impressing dzongs in Bhutan. The Punaka Dzong on the banks of the Mo (Mother) and Pho (Father) river.

Evening time at your leisure.

Dinner and overnight at hotel.

Day 07 | Punakha – Paro

Today you will return to Paro by road which takes about four hours. Your guide will suggest places stop along the way to enjoy the scenery and take light refreshments. Upon arrival in Paro you have the rest of the afternoon to relax.

After lunch, you will visit Kychu Lakhang the oldest monastery, Ta Dzong, an ancient watchtower, which now houses the National Museum. Below the museum is the Paro Rimpung Dzong, the centre of civil and religious authority in this valley. A short walk takes you to the base of the dzong and across a traditional cantilevered, covered bridge.

Evening time at your leisure.

Dinner and overnight at hotel.

Day 08 | Paro

Today an early rise is recommended as you drive approximately 12 km out of Paro to Taksang, better known as Tiger’s Nest Monastery. The highlight of most journeys to Bhutan, the monastery is perched on a high rocky ledge 900 meters above the valley floor offering incredible views. The hike from the car park takes approximately two to three hours depending on your fitness. There is small cafe to stop off for tea or coffee along the way. Once you have reached the Monastery itself, you then hike down to the car park. If you feel you might not make it to the Monastery itself, we would still suggest a visit, hiking part of the way up to view the monastery from a viewpoint with a stunning panorama of the cliff face.

Evening time at your leisure.

Dinner and overnight at hotel.

Day 09 | Paro – Kathmandu

Today drive to Paro airport to take a short one-and-a-half-hour Himalayan flight to Kathmandu, Nepal. Upon arrival in Kathmandu airport, you will be met by a Lumle airport representative. You will be escorted to your hotel.
