This visas and immigration process is pretty straightforward in Nepal. However, it is advised that, you are somehow prepared. You can apply to Nepalese visa in Nepal embassy in your country or upon arrival in Kathmandu airport. Here is what you will require:
1) The pen to complete the actual visa form (form can be obtained at the airport).
2) A couple of passport sized photographs (bring a good amount of extras because you will require these for trekking permit, visa extension during your trip to Nepal)
3) US money or maybe convertible forex (15 days to weeks is $25; ninety days is $100).
4) Address and contact of where you will be staying.
As soon as you traverse the through immigration area, you will have to head downstairs towards luggage area. The custom clearing practices in Nepal are very much straight forward, only you have to put your luggage to the trolley and pass through immigration channel.
Please note, Nepal customs likewise other countries do not allow drugs, firearms, plants, fruits, live animals, etc. After you passed through customs, you will walk down a corridor straight through until that ends with a glass wall and entrance gate where large numbers of drivers or airport representatives waving hording boards and signs. You will have to pass through the door and look around your or company name signage if you have arranged someone to pick you up. If you have not pre-arranged anyone than, you can book tourist taxi (recommended) from the airport counter.
You will observe large number of taxies wanting to assist you with transport once you exit airport. They will also be seen extremely hospitable and start grabbing your bags etc. So, a word of warning here that: if you let someone to carry your bag, than you may end up paying monies they demand. So the best way is to say “no thank you” and book a tourist taxi from airport counter.
