Begin with a scenic transfer to Ollantaytambo, then board a picturesque train to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Pueblo). Watch the Sacred Valley unfold—river gorges, cloudforest slopes and towering green peaks.

On arrival in Aguas Calientes, continue by bus to the Machu Picchu Citadel, perched above misty ridgelines. Iquitos Caño (AM): Rise early for one of the richest birding zones within the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve. At dawn, wildlife is most active. Board skiffs to glide beneath cathedral-like canopies of mature forest and palms, prime habitat for parrots, macaws and mixed flocks. Watch for nesting hoatzins just above the waterline and keep an eye out for three-toed sloths draped in the branches.

Amazon Natural Park (AM): Visit Carola, a revered local shaman (healer) who provides spiritual care to communities across the forest. Gain insight into traditional Amazonian healing practices and the role of a “white shaman” as a guide and caretaker within jungle life.

Yanayacu Pucate (PM): Cruise the winding Yanayacu and Pucate rivers—among the most pristine sectors of Pacaya Samiria—peering into creeks and blackwater lagoons as your naturalist interprets the region’s remarkable biodiversity. Day 13 : JOURNEY INTO THE AMAZON ABOARD DELFIN III

Nauta Caño (AM): Skiff along this wildlife-rich creek scanning riverbanks and canopy for squirrel monkeys, saddleback tamarins, sloths, colourful birdlife and, with luck, playful river dolphins. Guides also point out camouflaged caimans, spiders and dazzling insects in all shapes and sizes.

Low-Water Season Extras (typically Jun–Nov)

• Try your hand at piranha fishing on calm backwaters (catch-and-release).
• Visit a riverside community: meet families, see cassava peeling/grating and simple rice processing, and learn about daily life along the forest edge.

Fundo Casual (PM): Walk a terra firme (non-flooded) forest trail where your naturalist helps you spot hidden wonders—leaf frogs, poison frogs, tarantulas, boas and remarkable invertebrates. Occasional sightings of two-toed sloths and other mammals are possible; keep your eyes and ears open for surprises.

Disembarkation (AM): After breakfast, bid farewell to the crew and disembark at Nauta. Our ground team will transfer you by private vehicle along the paved road back to Iquitos (~95–100 km).

Airport Departure: At Crnl. FAP Francisco Secada Vignetta International Airport (IQT), our staff will assist with luggage and check-in for your flight to Lima. At security, your guide and Delfin crew will say their goodbyes—may the Amazon’s sights and sounds travel home with you.
