Press Release: Important Nepal Travel Update
Lumle Holidays Ltd., United Kingdom, is issuing an important update regarding the current situation in Nepal following widespread protests in Kathmandu and other regions of the country.
The unrest began after the Nepalese government announced restrictions on access to major social media platforms including Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, YouTube, and X (formerly Twitter). Although the ban was lifted, demonstrations led mainly by younger groups have continued, highlighting grievances over governance and corruption. Clashes between protesters and security forces have resulted in fatalities and injuries, while a nationwide curfew remains in place.
Amid the escalating situation, the Prime Minister has resigned, and the army has been deployed to maintain security in Kathmandu. Importantly, tourist areas, cultural monuments, and visitors have not been targeted, and hotels and tourism services continue to operate. Tribhuvan International Airport (Kathmandu) has been closed today as a precautionary measure. Our local partners continue to report that tourist areas and monuments have not been targeted, and hotels and tourism services remain operational.
