You will board on an overnight plane to Bangkok .

 Day 02 : Bangkok Arrival

Arrive at Bangkok International Airport, meet and greet and transfer to your hotel (transfer unescorted). Rest of the day at leisure (own expense) Perhaps you could indulge yourself with a traditional Thai Massage, surprise your taste buds with the amazing local flavours and cap off the day by enjoying the sunset in any of the stylish rooftop bars which have blossomed in the city’s skyscrapers in recent years… the options are limitless.

 Day 03 : Halfday Royal Grand Palace & Temple Tour

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at the hotel. Today’s tour includes three of the most important Buddhist temples in Bangkok. Wat Traimit is also known as the temple of the Golden Buddha houses a 3-meter-tall statue made from solid gold and weighing 5.5 tons. You will then pass through Chinatown on your way to Wat Pho, the temple of the Reclining Buddha and home to the Chedis of the Kings. At 46 meters in length and 15 meters high the Buddha is the largest in Bangkok and illustrates the passing of the Buddha into nirvana. The Grand Palace is one of the most beautiful samples of an ancient Siamese court. It used to be the residence of the Kings of Bangkok. Here you will see palaces which were used for different occasions: the Funeral Palace, the Reception Palace, the Throne Hall, the Coronation Hall, the Royal Guest House, and Wat Phra Keo, the beautiful Emerald Buddha Temple. To round off the tour, we call in at a local lapidary factory and showroom where you will be able to get locally made jewellery, handicrafts and silk at competitive prices.

 Day 04 : Railway Market and Damnern Saduak Floating Market

Recharge your energies with a delicious breakfast at the hotel. Depart from Bangkok and head to Maeklong Railway Market, also known as Talad Rom Hoop. Upon arrival, the guide will introduce you to the history of this area. See the action in several minutes before the train passing through the market. The process happens so quick it will amaze you for the unique moment. Then go to the world-famous floating market of “Damnoen Saduak”, there are countless floating markets throughout the country, the colourfully clad merchants at these lively markets paddle along congested canals in sturdy canoes laden with fresh fruits and vegetables to sell to shoppers on the banks. This is an exciting and fun way to see the local like and to go bargain hunting. Transfer back to Bangkok.

 Day 05 : Fullday River Kwai Easy

Early morning, enjoy a rich breakfast at the hotel. Pick-up between 6:00 - 6:30 am, and depart to Kanchanaburi province (128 km). Visit the Thailand-Burma Railway Centre - an interactive museum, with information and research facilities, dedicated to present the history of the Thailand-Burma Railway. The fully air-conditioned centre offers the visitor an educational and moving experience. Continue to visit the Allied War Cemetery, which is a memorial to some 6000 allied prisoners of war who perished along the death railway line and were moved post-war to this eternal resting place. After lunch at a local restaurant (included), take a trip on the historic Death Railway Train, passing over the original wooden viaduct constructed by allied prisoners of war. Journey back to Bangkok. Arrive at Bangkok and transfer to the hotel.

 Day 06 : Bangkok – Siem Reap

Feast on a reinvigorating breakfast and time at leisure until you are transferred to Bangkok International Airport for onward travel to your selected destination (transfer unescorted).

Upon arrival, warmly welcome at Siem Reap International airport, you are met by our guide & driver and then transferred direct to hotel for check-in.

The remaining time is free for you to rest & relax at the hotel. You may wish to explore the city, you can choose to visit Pub Street which is well-known for its quality yet economical food & beverage outlets.

 Day 07 : Siem Reap Sightseeing

Wake up early this morning to arrive on the grounds of Angkor Wat. Breakfast at the hotel, you’ll be at leisure a bit and then:

Angkor Sightseeing

08h00: Our shuttle bus with a tour guide will pick you up from your hotel and transfer to the South Gate of Angkor Thom.

Walk through the South Gate of Angkor Thom via the Naga Bridge, taking some photos.

Walk from the South Gate of Angkor Thom to Bayon temple via the big trees, and play with monkeys (be careful with your things as monkeys might try to take them away from you).

Visit Bayon Temple and walk to Baphuon, Elephant Terrance, Leper King Terrace, and the Royal Enclosure.

Lunch break (at your own cost)

13h00: You’ll be driven to Angkor Wat Temple area (Visit Angkor Wat Temple until sunset).

17h30: Our shuttle bus with the guide will bring you back to the hotel for the night Overnight stay in Siem Reap.

Important notes:

The upper level of the Bayon temple is closed for renovations. The land parts remain open as usual. Visitors will still be able to visit the Bayon temple on the lower level as well as all other Angkor temples as per schedule.

 Day 08 : Siem Reap

Breakfast at the hotel.

Today, the day is kept leisurely for you to rest & relax. You may choose to explore Siem Reap City on your own or enjoy an optional half-day Tonle Sap lake tour.

Half day Tonle Sap Lake Tour: This morning, we visit a Floating Village. Take a ride in a traditional wooden boat on the Tonle Sap, the "Great Lake" of Cambodia and the largest in Asia. Here we will see plenty of examples of the Khmer way of life on the Tonle Sap. Transfer back to your hotel.

Services included: English-speaking guide, boat trip, entrance fee, transfer as per program.

 Day 09 : Siem Reap - Phnom Penh

Breakfast at the hotel.

In the past few days, you have learned a lot about Siem Reap’s Angkor Wat, markets, cuisines, and cultures. Today, it’s now time to say goodbye to Siem Reap and depart to Phnom Penh by air-conditioned tourist coach a 6-7 hour drive depending on the traffic. Coaches leave in the morning and arrive in Ho Chi Minh City late afternoon. Upon arrival at Ho Chi Minh City bus station, you will be met by our guide and driver to transfer you to the hotel for check-in.

For faster transfer, you may upgrade to an approximately 1-hour domestic flight from Siem Reap - Phnom Penh.

The rest of the time, you’ll be free on your own to explore some highlights in Phnom Penh such as the Royal Palace, built by King Norodom in 1866 on the site of the old town, and the Silver Pagoda, located within the grounds of the Royal Palace, the Silver Pagoda is so named because of its floor, which is made up of 5000 silver tiles and National Museum.

 Day 10 : Phnom Penh

Breakfast at the hotel, you’ll be then free on your own to explore the city.

Royal Palace, built by King Norodom in 1866 on the site of the old town, and the Silver Pagoda, located within the grounds of the Royal Palace, the Silver Pagoda is so named because of its floor, which is made up of 5000 silver tiles. Then continue your visit to the National Museum.

Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum or S21 was the former Tuol Svay Prey High School. The Khmer Rouge set up a prison at this site in May 1976, to detain individual accused of opposing the Pol Pot regime, and was Angkar’s premier security institution, the Killing Field of Choeung Ek, and Wat Phnom temples.

 Day 11 : Phnom Penh – Ho Chi Minh City

Leave Cambodia behind and embark on a journey to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam by air-conditioned tourist coach a 7-8 hour drive depending on the traffic. The journey takes through the countryside, so sit back and enjoy the journey. Coaches leave in the morning and arrive in Ho Chi Minh City late afternoon. Upon arrival at Ho Chi Minh City bus station, you will be met by our guide and driver to transfer you to the hotel for check-in.

For faster transfer, you may upgrade to an approximately 1-hour domestic flight from Phnom Penh - Ho Chi Minh City.

The bustling Ho Chi Minh City, still called Saigon by many locals, is a center of commerce, finance, culture, and tourism in Vietnam. This metropolis, a contradiction of its northern counterpart, is crowded with bikes and motorbikes, excited by numerous shopping areas and sidewalk cafes. (If time permits) we stroll around the downtown to explore the different local ways of life.

 Day 12 : Ho Chi Minh City – Mekong Delta

Afterward, you’ll be heading out of town to join the group tour, we travel by roads to the Mekong Delta. This plain region boasts the largest rice bowl of Vietnam. On arrival in My Tho, we board a boat navigating around the intricate small canals, which is a great way to observe the local lifestyle close-up and catch a view dotted by many islands. The exciting river trip will pass by the lush green vegetation towards the famous Unicorn Island where we have a chance to stroll around an orchard, taste many seasonal fruits, and see farmers at work. The extra enjoyment is lunch at one of the famous local eating spots.

 Day 13 : Ho Chi Minh City

Today, the day is kept leisurely for you to rest & relax. You may choose to explore Ho Chi Minh City on your own or enjoy an optional Cu Chi Tunnels tour.

Chi Tunnels Tour: Pick up from the hotel and drive to Cu Chi Tunnels – the network of over 200km of tunnels became legendary when they played a vital role in the War. In their heyday, the tunnels were functioning underground cities including numerous trap doors, specially constructed living areas, storage facilities, weapons factories, field hospitals, command centers & kitchens. After a short introduction video showing how the tunnels were constructed, you will have a chance to crawl into a short section of the tunnels to feel the oppressive narrowness and heat inside. After lunch, return to Ho Chi Minh City.

 Day 14 : Ho Chi Minh City – Hanoi (By Domestic Flight)

Afterward, you’ll be at leisure till the time of a transfer (no guide) to the airport for a departure flight from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi, Vietnam’s capital in the north. It was once the capital of French Indochina, then became the capital of unified Vietnam after the northern forces won the war. Today it is a mainly modern city that still preserves its delightful charm.

Upon arrival at Noibai Airport, you’ll be met by our local guide & transferred to your hotel in Hanoi for a Check-in.

The rest of the time, you’ll be free on your own. You may choose to enjoy markets, street food etc.

 Day 15 : Hanoi – Ha Long

After having breakfast at the hotel, you will be at leisure till the time to be picked up at the hotel by our air-conditioned tourist shuttle bus for Halong Bay.

11:30 - 12:15 : Arrive at Halong International Cruise Port.

12:30 - 13:00 : Embark on Victory. Check-in, enjoy welcome drinks and cruise briefing.

13:00 - 14:30 : Enjoy lunch while cruising to magnificent Bai Tu Long Bay, and admire the fascinating formations on the way.

15:30 - 16:30 : Explore the well- hidden Thien Canh Son Cave.

17:00 - 17:30 : Return to boat – Swim or relax on sundeck.

18:00 : Anchor for overnight in Cong Do area.

18:15 : Pre-dinner cocktail party (complimentary "Halong sunset" cocktail with snacks).

18:30 - 19:00 : Cooking class in restaurant or outdoor.

19:30 - 21:00 : Savour a delicious set dinner in the restaurant.

21:00 - 23:00 : Night-time squid fishing or relax and enjoy fresh air. Overnight in Cong Do area.

 Day 16 : Ha Long – Hanoi

06:30 : Enjoy sunrise on the Bay. Morning Tai Chi session on sundeck.

06:45 - 07:45 : Coffee, tea and breakfast pastries served in the restaurant.

08:00 - 08:30 : Transfer to bamboo sampan boat to visit Vung Vieng Fishing Village. Rowers are local people wearing traditional costume.

09:00 - 09:30 : Check out of cabins. Start cruising towards the port.

09:30 - 10:30 : International buffet brunch  served in restaurant.

10:30 - 11:00 : Disembark. 

12h00: Take our shuttle bus to return to Hanoi.

16h30: Arrival back at your hotel. At leisure in the rest of the day.

Vietnam Visa : Please note that to visit Vietnam, Irish passport holders are required an e-tourist visa. UK passport holders are exempt of this requirement for stays up to 15 days.

Cambodia Visa : To have a better experience, we recommend that you apply for your tourist visa for Cambodia online as it will reduce your transit time at the border control.

You can obtain your Cambodian tourist visa in the following ways:

  1. Online: Apply for your E-VISA for Cambodia at least 7 days before your holiday. Click on this link https://www.evisa.gov.kh and select ‘VISA T’, the cost is approximately USD $36. The port of entry will be the port of entry in border control as per your itinerary. 
  2. On Arrival: If for any reason you are unable to procure your Cambodian e-visa online don’t worry, you will have an option to gain a visa at the Cambodian border control on arrival. We recommend that you bring a ‘passport’ photo (35 x 45 mm) with you and USD $36 for the payment.

While a Cambodian Visa can also be procured at the destination, VIETNAM VISA MUST BE PROCURED IN ADVANCE TO BE ABLE TO ENTER THE COUNTRY. (Required for Irish passport holders).

Passport : Please note that your passport MUST be valid for a minimum of 6 months after the validation date of your visa.

Travel Documents : Please ensure you take all your final travel documents with you to Cambodia & Vietnam.

Optional activities/sightseeing : Sightseeing as per the itinerary is supported by the local English-speaking guide. Please note that, the optional activities/sightseeing are not exclusive to Lumle customers and groups will be mixed with customers from other travel companies.

Halong Bay Cruise : Each cruise is only permitted to pick one routing/itinerary to either Ha Long Bay or Lan Ha Bay. Routing/itinerary is subject to change without earlier notification according to the weather conditions or local administration regulations.

Transportation : Transportation is based on air-condition tourist vehicle. Transfers are assisted without English speaking guide.

Wi-Fi : While on road travel, it is highly unlikely that your transportation will be equipped with Wi-Fi or bathroom facilities, though rest stops will take place for long-distance journeys. We recommend purchasing a new SIM card at the airport or placing an e-SIM before travel to guarantee data with an internet connection.

What do I need to bring?

  • Comfortable and light clothing is the most suitable for traveling in Cambodia & Vietnam.
  • Visitors should not wear sleeveless shirts, shorts, short skirts, or skimpy clothing when visiting temples, religious or official buildings.
  • Shoes should be removed before entering a temple or private house.
  • Sun protection, sunglasses, a hat, and mosquito repellent can be very useful during your stay.
