Day 2 : WELCOME TO HANOI – GATEWAY TO TIMELESS VIETNAM

Touch down in Hanoi, Vietnam’s captivating capital, where ancient traditions meet French colonial charm and the buzz of modern city life. Upon arrival at Noi Bai International Airport, you’ll be warmly greeted by your friendly local tour guide, who will accompany you on your comfortable transfer to the city centre.

As you travel into the heart of Hanoi, soak in your first glimpses of this lively metropolis — motorbikes weaving through traffic, tree-lined avenues, and the unmistakable hum of daily life. Upon arrival at your hotel, complete the check-in process and unwind after your journey.

The rest of the day is at leisure, giving you time to relax and prepare for the cultural wonders that await in the coming days. Take a stroll around the neighbourhood, enjoy a cup of traditional Vietnamese coffee, or simply settle into your hotel and refresh.

Overnight: Hanoi

Please note: Standard hotel check-in time is between 14:00 – 15:00. Early check-in is not included and is subject to availability upon arrival. If you wish to guarantee early check-in, this can be arranged at an additional cost and must be booked in advance.

Day 3 : DISCOVER THE TIMELESS CHARM OF HANOI – GROUP CITY TOUR (B/L)

Wake up in the historic heart of Hanoi and enjoy a delicious breakfast at your hotel. Today, immerse yourself in the rich tapestry of Vietnamese culture and history on a full-day guided group tour of the capital’s most iconic sites.

08:00–08:30: Meet your friendly local guide in the hotel lobby and begin your journey through Hanoi’s living history.

08:45: Your first stop is the tranquil Tran Quoc Pagoda, Hanoi’s oldest Buddhist temple, gracefully set on Golden Fish Islet in West Lake. Dating back to the 6th century, this serene site offers a peaceful start to the day.

09:30: Continue to the sacred Ho Chi Minh Complex. Here, you may have the rare opportunity to view the embalmed body of Vietnam’s beloved leader at the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum (subject to opening hours). Afterwards, stroll through the surrounding gardens to see the two stilt houses where he lived and worked from 1954 to 1969. The tour also includes a visit to the iconic One Pillar Pagoda, a symbol of purity and compassion, dedicated to the Goddess of Mercy.

Please note: Visitors should dress respectfully — covering shoulders and knees — when entering sacred sites such as the Mausoleum, temples, and pagodas. The Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum is closed on Mondays and Fridays and undergoes annual maintenance from 15 June to 15 August, during which external photography is permitted, and visits to the surrounding complex continue as usual.

11:15: Visit the fascinating Vietnam Museum of Ethnology, which offers an insightful look into the cultures and traditions of Vietnam’s 54 ethnic groups.

Special Note: On Mondays, when the Ethnology Museum is closed, the itinerary will instead include the highly praised Vietnamese Women's Museum, a compelling tribute to the women who shaped the nation’s history and culture.

12:45: Enjoy a flavoursome Vietnamese lunch at a local restaurant, featuring a curated menu of 8 authentic dishes — a delicious introduction to the country's celebrated culinary traditions.

14:00–14:15: Visit the revered Temple of Literature, Vietnam’s first national university founded in the 11th century. This well-preserved sanctuary of Confucian learning offers stunning examples of traditional Vietnamese architecture and spiritual legacy.

15:15: Step into the sobering history of the Hoa Lo Prison Museum, once a colonial-era prison and later known to American POWs as the infamous “Hanoi Hilton.” Discover its powerful narratives from the French colonial period to the Vietnam War.

16:15–16:30: After an enriching day, return to your hotel to relax and reflect on the sights and stories of the capital.

Overnight: Hanoi

Day 4 : JOURNEY TO NINH BINH – EXPLORE VIETNAM’S ANCIENT CAPITAL & LANDSCAPES (B/L)

After breakfast at your hotel, prepare for a full-day adventure to the enchanting province of Ninh Binh, a destination often referred to as “Ha Long Bay on land” for its dramatic limestone landscapes and scenic riverways.

07:30–08:00: Meet your friendly local guide and depart from Hanoi by comfortable coach, heading south through the verdant Vietnamese countryside.

09:15: Take a short 15–20 minute break to stretch and refresh along the way.

10:30: Arrive at Hoa Lư, the ancient capital of Vietnam from 968 to 1010. Step back in time as you explore the historic temples and learn about the dynastic legacies of the Dinh, Le, and Ly Dynasties that once ruled this cradle of Vietnamese civilisation.

11:45: Enjoy a delicious buffet lunch at a local restaurant featuring a variety of regional specialities such as goat meat, grilled fish, chicken, and fried rice. Vegetarian options are available on request, and we recommend advising your guide in advance to ensure your dietary preferences are accommodated.

13:00: Embark on a serene 1.5-hour bamboo boat ride through Tam Coc, a breathtaking region of lush rice paddies, tranquil rivers, and towering limestone karsts. Drift beneath an ethereal cave system and marvel at the natural beauty that has earned this region the title of “Ha Long Bay on land.”

15:00: Continue your discovery with a 45-minute bicycle tour through the peaceful countryside. This is not self-pedalling; you will be comfortably seated in a rickshaw-style tricycle operated by a local rider, allowing you to enjoy the scenery without physical effort as you glide past quiet lanes, rustic homes, and verdant farmland.

16:00: Rejoin your coach and begin the return journey to Hanoi.

18:00: Arrive back at your hotel in Hanoi, with the evening at leisure to unwind after a fulfilling day of cultural exploration and natural beauty.

Overnight: Hanoi

Day 5 : FROM HANOI TO HALONG BAY – BEGIN YOUR MAGICAL CRUISE ADVENTURE (B/L/D)

After breakfast at your hotel, check out and get ready for the next highlight of your journey — a once-in-a-lifetime experience cruising through the stunning seascape of Halong Bay, a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its mystical limestone formations and tranquil emerald waters.

09:00: Depart Hanoi by shared shuttle bus, travelling eastward on a scenic 3-hour drive to the coast. Along the way, admire the picturesque vistas of the Red River Delta, where lush green rice paddies stretch into the horizon and local farmers tend to their fields with water buffaloes and traditional tools — a timeless scene of rural Vietnam.

Upon arrival at the pier in Halong Bay, board your beautifully appointed overnight cruise ship. Settle into your private cabin and prepare to uncover the incredible beauty of this natural wonder, often referred to as the “Bay of the Descending Dragon.”

Enjoy a delicious lunch on board as the cruise sets sail into the heart of the bay, passing a maze of limestone karsts, rocky outcrops, and hidden grottoes. The afternoon brings opportunities to explore the bay more intimately — depending on the specific cruise itinerary, you may:

  • Visit one of the bay’s spectacular cave systems
  • Swim in the refreshing waters or kayak near towering cliffs (optional activities – weather and cruise dependent)
  • See traditional floating fishing villages and marvel at the unique island formations up close

Return to the cruise for a delightful cooking demonstration hosted by the onboard chef — a chance to learn how to prepare a classic Vietnamese dish before enjoying your freshly prepared dinner in the dining area, surrounded by breathtaking views.

In the evening, you are free to relax on deck under the stars, enjoy a drink at the bar, or join optional onboard activities such as squid fishing or movie night.

Overnight: Onboard cruise in Halong Bay

Please note: The exact cruise itinerary and included activities may vary depending on weather conditions, cruise provider, and operational requirements. Final details will be confirmed onboard. Optional activities such as kayaking may incur additional charges and are subject to availability.

Day 6 : SUNRISE OVER HALONG BAY – FLY TO THE IMPERIAL CITY OF HUE (B)

Rise early to witness one of the most magical moments of your journey — sunrise over Halong Bay. As the first golden rays pierce the mist, the limestone karsts and tranquil waters come alive with colour and light. In Vietnamese, the sea is known as the “Eastern Sea”, and sunrise here is truly a spiritual experience.

Enjoy a light breakfast on board as your cruise continues through the bay, passing more of its uniquely named islets and rock formations. You’ll sail past wonders like Sail Island, Fisherman’s Head Rock, Butterfly Rock, and Turtle Islet — each with a name inspired by its shape and the legends that surround it.

After soaking in the last views of this enchanting seascape, return to your cabin to check out. A delicious brunch will be served on board as the boat gently glides back toward the pier.

Disembark and board the shuttle bus back to Hanoi, enjoying the drive through the peaceful countryside once more.

Upon arrival in Hanoi, meet your private driver (no guide) for your transfer to the airport. Board your domestic flight to Hue, the former imperial capital of Vietnam, known for its palaces, ancient tombs, and Perfume River charm.

Once in Hue, you’ll be greeted by another private driver (no guide) who will transfer you to your hotel. Check in and enjoy the rest of the evening at leisure — a perfect time to unwind or take a stroll near the romantic riverbanks.

Overnight: Hue

Note: Transfers from Hanoi to the airport and from Hue airport to the hotel are operated by private car without a guide. Flight schedules are subject to change and will be reconfirmed locally.

Day 7 : DISCOVER HUE – THE IMPERIAL HEART OF VIETNAM (B)

After breakfast at your hotel, begin your day of discovery in Hue, Vietnam’s former imperial capital and a UNESCO-listed treasure trove of history and culture. Meet your expert local guide and driver and head to the boat landing on the Perfume River — a waterway steeped in poetic charm and historical tales.

Embark on a leisurely dragon boat cruise along the Perfume River to visit the iconic Thien Mu Pagoda, Hue’s oldest religious monument. With its seven-tiered tower and scenic riverside setting, this sacred site offers a peaceful introduction to Hue’s spiritual heritage.

Next, take a short drive into the countryside to explore the majestic royal tombs of Tu Duc and Khai Dinh. The Tu Duc Tomb is set in a pine forest and reflects the poetic soul of an emperor who loved nature, while the Khai Dinh Tomb is a dramatic fusion of traditional Vietnamese and European Gothic influences — a striking contrast that reveals the evolution of royal architecture through the Nguyen Dynasty.

12:00: Enjoy a delicious lunch at a charming garden restaurant just outside the city, where you’ll sample authentic Hue cuisine — a delicate and refined culinary tradition once reserved for the royal court.

In the afternoon, return to Hue’s city centre to delve into the grandeur of the Imperial Citadel and the mysterious Forbidden Purple City, where emperors lived, ruled, and shaped the destiny of the Vietnamese kingdom. Walk through imposing gates, ancient palaces, and restored halls as your guide brings the royal legacy to life.

If time and weather permit, you may have the chance to witness a breathtaking sunset over the Perfume River — a serene and unforgettable way to end your day in Hue.

Return to your hotel for a restful evening at leisure.

Overnight: Hue

Day 8 : JOURNEY TO HOI AN – A TIMELESS TREASURE OF VIETNAM (B)

After breakfast at your hotel in Hue, embark on a scenic drive southward to the enchanting town of Hoi An Ancient Town. This journey offers picturesque views of Vietnam's central coastline, passing through verdant landscapes and charming villages.

Upon arrival in Hoi An, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, immerse yourself in its well-preserved architecture and rich cultural heritage. Begin your guided walking tour through the ancient streets, where history comes alive at every corner.

One of the highlights of your tour is the recently restored Japanese Covered Bridge (Chùa Cầu). Reopened to the public on August 3, 2024, after a meticulous 19-month restoration, this 17th-century bridge stands as a testament to Hoi An's historical ties with Japan. The restoration preserved its original architectural charm while ensuring structural integrity for future generations to admire.

Continue to explore the Chinese Assembly Halls, each showcasing unique architectural styles and serving as a testament to the town's multicultural past. Visit ancient merchant houses that reflect a blend of Vietnamese, Chinese, and Japanese influences, and enjoy the melodies of traditional folk music that echo through the historic streets.

Stroll to the bustling Hoi An Central Market by the Thu Bon River, where vibrant stalls offer a plethora of local goods, from fresh produce to handcrafted souvenirs. Hoi An is renowned for its skilled tailors; consider having custom garments made from luxurious silk, often ready within a day.

Check in at your hotel and enjoy the evening at leisure. As night falls, the town transforms into a magical landscape illuminated by thousands of lanterns, offering a truly unforgettable experience.

Overnight: Hoi An

Day 9 : HOI AN AT LEISURE – EMBRACE THE CHARM OF VIETNAM’S ANCIENT TOWN (B)

After a leisurely breakfast at your hotel, enjoy an entire day free to explore the captivating beauty of Hoi An Ancient Town at your own pace. This UNESCO-listed gem is a harmonious blend of culture, architecture, and riverside serenity, offering something for every kind of traveller.

Stroll through the lantern-lit streets of the Old Quarter, where well-preserved merchant houses, charming tea shops, and vibrant markets await. Sip a cup of traditional Vietnamese coffee in a quaint riverside café, admire local art galleries and antique stores, or visit one of the many tailors who can craft custom-made garments from luxurious silk — often ready within 24 hours.

Alternatively, unwind on the soft golden sands of An Bang Beach, located just a short ride from the town centre, or opt for one of several optional excursions to deepen your connection with local life:

  • Take a hands-on Vietnamese cooking class led by a local chef
  • Join a scenic cycling tour to Tra Que vegetable village and meet the local farmers
  • Embark on a peaceful Thu Bon River sunset cruise

Note: Optional experiences are available at an additional cost and can be added during your online booking process.

As evening falls, let Hoi An enchant you with its magical lantern glow reflecting on the riverbanks. Whether you’re shopping, strolling, or simply soaking in the atmosphere, Hoi An by night promises a truly unforgettable experience.

Overnight: Hoi An

Day 10 : FROM TRANQUIL HOI AN TO BUSTLING SAIGON – A JOURNEY INTO VIETNAM’S MODERN PULSE (B)

After breakfast, check out of your hotel and prepare for your onward journey. You’ll be transferred by private vehicle (no guide) to Da Nang Airport for your short domestic flight to Ho Chi Minh City — still often referred to as Saigon, Vietnam’s largest and most energetic metropolis.

Upon arrival in Saigon, you’ll be greeted by your local tour guide and transferred to your centrally located hotel. Please note: Standard check-in time is from 14:00 onwards.

In the afternoon, dive straight into the city’s rich history with a guided Saigon city tour. Begin with a visit to the powerful War Remnants Museum, one of Vietnam’s most visited and emotionally moving historical attractions. Through a collection of photographs, military equipment, and written records, you’ll gain insight into the Vietnam War from the local perspective — a sobering but essential part of the country’s past.

Next, explore the Reunification Palace, a grand structure that witnessed the end of the war in 1975 when tanks famously crashed through its gates. Today, the palace serves as a museum and official venue for state receptions.

Continue to nearby colonial-era landmarks: view the striking Notre Dame Cathedral (from the outside only), a red-brick church constructed between 1877 and 1883 by the French, and step into the beautifully preserved Central Post Office — designed by Gustave Eiffel — with its grand vaulted ceilings and antique phone booths.

Your final stop is the vibrant Ben Thanh Market, an iconic symbol of the city. This bustling bazaar offers everything from handicrafts and souvenirs to spices, textiles, and street food. Enjoy free time to browse, shop, and soak in the fast-paced local atmosphere.

Overnight: Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon)

Note: The Notre Dame Cathedral of Saigon is currently undergoing restoration. While it can be viewed from outside, the interior is closed to visitors until the renovation project is completed, expected by 2027.

Day 11 : EXPLORE THE HEART OF THE MEKONG DELTA – GROUP TOUR FROM SAIGON (B/L)

After breakfast at your hotel, leave behind the bustling energy of Ho Chi Minh City and journey south to the tranquil countryside of the Mekong Delta, often referred to as the “rice bowl” of Vietnam. Today’s shared group tour offers a deep dive into the lush landscapes, vibrant waterways, and warm hospitality of delta life.

Arrive in My Tho, a riverside town along the left bank of the mighty Mekong River. Begin with a visit to the elegant Vinh Trang Pagoda, a peaceful temple with intricate architecture and spiritual serenity, dating back to the late 19th century.

Board a traditional sampan boat and cruise through the labyrinthine waterways surrounding the four mythical islets: Dragon, Unicorn, Phoenix, and Tortoise Islands. Witness riverside life unfold — floating houses, fishing boats, and lush mangroves passing silently by.

Disembark at Unicorn Island for a guided walk through tranquil village paths lined with fruit orchards. Enjoy a tasting of tropical fruits and listen to a live performance of traditional folk music performed by local artists — an authentic touch of Mekong culture.

Continue with a scenic journey through the shaded Thoi Son Canal aboard a hand-rowed sampan, offering a peaceful glide through the coconut groves. Visit a family-run business, sample honey tea at a nearby honeybee farm, and watch a live demonstration at a coconut candy workshop — with treats to taste and souvenirs to take home.

Enjoy a delicious lunch at a local riverside restaurant, featuring authentic Mekong Delta cuisine. After lunch, take a short rest and soak in the peaceful surroundings.

In the afternoon, you have the opportunity to experience local village life with an optional cycling experience. Please note: This is not self-pedalling; you will be comfortably seated in a rickshaw-style tricycle operated by a local rider, allowing you to enjoy the views without physical effort.

Optional activity – additional cost applies: The rickshaw cycling tour around Tan Thach Village can be added during the online booking process. It's a great way to see village life up close and interact with the locals in an authentic and relaxed way.

Alternatively, if you choose not to join the cycling excursion, you can relax in a hammock under the shade of coconut trees and enjoy the tranquil countryside breeze.

Later, rejoin the group and return to Saigon in comfort.

Overnight: Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon)

Day 12 : JOURNEY INTO HISTORY – CU CHI TUNNELS EXPERIENCE (B)

Day 12: Journey Into History – Cu Chi Tunnels Experience (B)

After breakfast at your hotel, depart on a morning group excursion to the legendary Cu Chi Tunnels, located about 60 km northwest of Ho Chi Minh City. This intricate underground network, stretching over 200 km, played a crucial role during the Vietnam War, serving as a base of operations for the Viet Cong forces.

Upon arrival, begin your visit with a brief documentary film that reveals the ingenious engineering and sheer determination involved in constructing these subterranean cities. You’ll then explore the preserved tunnel complex, which once contained living quarters, command centres, kitchens, weapon storage areas, and field hospitals.

You’ll also see a range of camouflaged trapdoors and war relics still in place, showcasing the resourcefulness of the Vietnamese fighters. For those who wish, there is an opportunity to crawl through a short, specially adapted section of the tunnels to experience the tight, humid, and claustrophobic conditions firsthand — a moment that offers both awe and respect.

Note: Entering the tunnel is optional and not recommended for those with claustrophobia or limited mobility.

After the tour, stop for lunch at a local restaurant (not included – at your own cost). Your guide can assist with recommendations depending on your preferences.

In the afternoon, return to Saigon, where the rest of the day is yours to enjoy at leisure. You may choose to relax at your hotel, do some last-minute shopping at Ben Thanh Market, or visit nearby attractions such as the Saigon Opera House or Nguyen Hue Walking Street.

Overnight: Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon)

Enjoy your final breakfast in vibrant Ho Chi Minh City and savour a few last moments in this dynamic land of history, culture, and unforgettable hospitality. The morning is free for you to relax, repack, or perhaps pick up some final souvenirs before departure.

At the designated time, you’ll be transferred by private vehicle (no guide) to Tan Son Nhat International Airport for your return flight home, bringing with you treasured memories of Vietnam’s natural beauty, vibrant cities, and warm-hearted people.
