Flights on this itinerary are arranged with one convenient stop as standard, though direct services to Mumbai are available at extra cost during online booking. Settle into your long-haul flight, enjoy the in-flight service, and prepare for your first glimpse of India’s bustling metropolis tomorrow.

Travel notes: Check-in typically opens 3 hours before departure. Flight time NEW YORK–Mumbai is around 9 hours direct, or 11–12 hours with one stop. Keep your passport, e-tickets, and travel insurance handy at the airport.

Day 2 : MUMBAI ARRIVAL & LEISURE

Arrive in Mumbai, India’s dynamic financial and cultural hub, where colonial architecture stands beside glittering skyscrapers and the Arabian Sea laps at the city’s edge. After clearing immigration and customs, meet your local representative for a private transfer to your hotel. Along the drive, catch first glimpses of the city’s landmarks, from bustling bazaars to the iconic Gateway of India.

The remainder of the day is free to relax after your journey. Unwind at the hotel, take a gentle stroll along Marine Drive to watch the sunset, or sample Mumbai’s famous street food, from spicy bhel puri to savoury vada pav. This evening, rest well as tomorrow begins your exploration of the city in earnest.

Travel notes: Mumbai is 4 hours 30 minutes ahead of GMT (5 hours 30 minutes during British Summer Time). Currency is the Indian Rupee. The city is lively and fast-paced—take care when crossing roads and carry bottled water throughout your stay.

Day 3 : MUMBAI — CITY TOUR & HERITAGE HIGHLIGHTS

After breakfast, embark on a guided city tour of Mumbai, exploring the vibrant mix of colonial heritage, cultural landmarks, and seaside charm. Begin at the iconic Gateway of India, the city’s most celebrated landmark overlooking the Arabian Sea, before continuing to Mani Bhawan, a modest house that served as Mahatma Gandhi’s headquarters during India’s freedom movement.

Next, marvel at the grand Victoria Terminus (Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus), a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the world’s finest examples of Victorian Gothic architecture. Later, wander through the artistic quarter of Kala Ghoda, known for its galleries, street art, and vibrant atmosphere.

As the day softens, relax at Chowpatty Beach and stroll along Marine Drive, the “Queen’s Necklace,” where the city skyline glows at sunset. Return to your hotel in the evening, enriched by the contrasts and character of this remarkable city.

Travel notes: Comfortable walking shoes are recommended, as the tour includes both coach and on-foot exploration. Marine Drive is especially beautiful at dusk, so keep your camera handy for the city lights.

Day 4 : FLIGHT FROM MUMBAI → UDAIPUR

After breakfast, transfer to Mumbai Airport for your domestic flight to Udaipur, the romantic “City of Lakes.” Board Air India flight AI 2593, departing at 11:15 and arriving at 12:45 hrs. On arrival, you will be met by your local representative and transferred to your hotel overlooking the shimmering waters of Lake Pichola.

The afternoon is free for leisure. You may choose to relax at the hotel or take a gentle walk along Udaipur’s lakeside ghats to absorb the city’s serene atmosphere. In the evening, enjoy the magical sight of palaces and havelis reflecting in the water as the sun sets over the Aravalli Hills.

Travel notes: Flight time from Mumbai to Udaipur is approx. 1.5 hrs. Keep your passport and domestic flight tickets handy. Checked luggage allowance is typically 15–20 kg per person on domestic sectors in India.

Day 5 : UDAIPUR — PALACES, GARDENS & LAKE PICHOLA

After breakfast, depart Udaipur by road for the journey to Jaipur, the fabled “Pink City” of Rajasthan. The drive takes around 6 hours, passing through rural villages, colourful markets, and the rugged landscapes of the Aravalli Hills. It’s an opportunity to witness everyday life in Rajasthan away from the tourist trail.

On arrival in Jaipur, check in at your hotel and take the remainder of the afternoon at leisure. Relax after the drive, or take a gentle evening stroll through Jaipur’s vibrant bazaars, where stalls brim with textiles, jewellery, and handicrafts under the glow of traditional lanterns.

Travel notes: The Udaipur–Jaipur drive covers approx. 390 km (6 hrs). Rest stops will be made en route for refreshments and comfort breaks. Keep a camera handy for glimpses of rural Rajasthan life.

Begin your exploration of Udaipur, the enchanting “City of Lakes,” with a guided visit to the majestic City Palace. This sprawling complex of courtyards, balconies, and marble halls stands proudly on the banks of Lake Pichola and offers breathtaking views of the Aravalli Hills and shimmering waters. Discover its ornate interiors, delicate mirror work, and royal artefacts that narrate the city’s regal past.

Continue to the elegant Sahelion Ki Bari, or “Garden of the Maidens,” a tranquil retreat with lotus pools, marble fountains, and flower-lined walkways created for a princess and her attendants. Stroll among shaded pavilions and fountains that still flow today, enjoying the serenity of this lush haven.

In the evening, enjoy a shared boat ride on Lake Pichola, one of India’s most romantic experiences. As the sun sets, watch the palaces and ghats reflect golden hues across the rippling waters, with the floating Lake Palace and Jag Mandir creating an unforgettable backdrop.

Travel notes: Comfortable footwear is recommended for walking through the palace and gardens. Boat rides on Lake Pichola are weather dependent and best enjoyed at sunset for spectacular views.

Day 6 : DRIVE FROM UDAIPUR → JAIPUR

Day 7 : JAIPUR — AMBER FORT, CITY PALACE & OBSERVATORY

Begin your exploration of Jaipur with a visit to the majestic Amber Fort, a hillside stronghold blending Rajput and Mughal architecture. Ascend the cobbled paths to enter grand courtyards, palaces adorned with mirror work, and pavilions offering sweeping views of Maota Lake and the surrounding hills. The Sheesh Mahal, or Hall of Mirrors, remains one of the fort’s most dazzling highlights.

Return to the heart of the city to explore the opulent City Palace, still home to Jaipur’s royal family. Its museums display regal costumes, weaponry, and art, while the courtyards and gateways exemplify the grandeur of Rajasthani design.

Conclude the day with a guided tour of Jantar Mantar, the UNESCO-listed astronomical observatory built by Maharaja Jai Singh II. Its massive stone instruments, some still in use today, showcase Jaipur’s scientific heritage and offer a fascinating glimpse into India’s 18th-century astronomy.

Travel notes: Wear comfortable shoes as Amber Fort requires walking on uneven paths. Mornings are best for visiting the fort before it gets hot. Photography is allowed in most areas but may incur small fees at certain palace sections.

Day 8 : DRIVE FROM JAIPUR → AGRA

After breakfast, leave the Pink City of Jaipur behind and set out by road towards Agra, the jewel of Mughal India. The drive takes around 5 hours, traversing Rajasthan’s rural landscapes and colourful villages before crossing into Uttar Pradesh. Along the way, glimpses of camel carts, roadside bazaars, and mustard fields paint a vivid picture of northern India’s countryside.

On arrival in Agra, check in at your hotel and enjoy the remainder of the afternoon at leisure. Relax after the journey, or take a gentle walk around the bustling markets where marble inlay work, carpets, and handicrafts are on display. Tomorrow promises the unforgettable sight of the Taj Mahal.

Travel notes: The Jaipur–Agra drive is approx. 240 km (5 hrs). Rest stops will be made en route for refreshments. An optional stop at Fatehpur Sikri, the abandoned Mughal capital, can be arranged on request.

Day 9 : AGRA — SUNRISE TAJ MAHAL, AGRA FORT & BABY TAJ

Rise early for a once-in-a-lifetime experience — watching the Taj Mahal at sunrise. As the first light of day bathes its white marble in soft shades of pink and gold, the monument reveals its most breathtaking beauty. Your guide will share the romantic story of Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal, whose love inspired this world wonder.

Return to the hotel for breakfast before continuing to the imposing Agra Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore its grand courtyards, audience halls, and palaces that once served as the seat of Mughal power. From its ramparts, enjoy distant views of the Taj Mahal shimmering across the Yamuna River.

Later, visit the exquisite Itimad-ud-Daulah, fondly called the “Baby Taj.” This elegant marble mausoleum, decorated with intricate inlay work and lattice screens, is said to have inspired the design of the Taj itself. Its peaceful gardens and refined beauty provide a perfect conclusion to your Agra discoveries.

Travel notes: The Taj Mahal is closed on Fridays. Photography is allowed, but tripods are not permitted. Early mornings can be cooler — bring a light shawl or jacket. Carry bottled water and wear comfortable walking shoes.

Day 10 : TRAIN FROM AGRA → KHAJURAHO

After an early breakfast, transfer to Agra Railway Station to board the Vande Bharat Express bound for Khajuraho. The train departs at 07:45 hrs and arrives at 14:20 hrs, offering a comfortable and modern rail journey across the plains of central India. Sit back and enjoy the passing scenery of rural villages, farms, and small towns along the way.

On arrival in Khajuraho, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. The remainder of the afternoon is free at leisure. Relax after the long journey or take a short walk around the town to get your first glimpse of Khajuraho’s peaceful atmosphere. Tomorrow, you will explore the famous UNESCO-listed temples that make this town world-renowned.

Travel notes: Train journey approx. 6 hrs 35 mins. Light snacks and tea/coffee are usually served onboard. Porters are available at stations for luggage assistance. Keep valuables in your hand baggage during travel.

Day 11 : KHAJURAHO — EASTERN & WESTERN GROUP OF TEMPLES

Discover the UNESCO-listed temples of Khajuraho, masterpieces of medieval Chandela art and architecture. Begin at the Western Group, where exquisitely carved sand-stone shrines such as Kandariya Mahadev, Lakshmana and Vishwanath rise from manicured lawns. Your guide unpacks the symbolism in the dynamic friezes—celestial beings, dancers, deities, and scenes of daily life—celebrated for their grace and detail.

Continue to the Eastern Group, home to beautifully preserved Jain temples including Parsvanath, Adinath and Ghantai. Note the refined lattice work, floral motifs and serene images of the Tirthankaras, reflecting a distinct aesthetic and spiritual calm that contrasts with the exuberance of the western complex.

Later, time permitting, explore the museum or wander the leafy avenues at your own pace. As the light softens, the temples glow honey-gold—an unforgettable finale to a day immersed in India’s sculptural heritage.

Travel notes: Modest dress is recommended. Footwear must be removed at some shrines—easy slip-ons help. Mornings and late afternoons are cooler and offer the best light for photography. Carry water, a hat and sunscreen.

Day 12 : KHAJURAHO — MORNING JEEP SAFARI IN PANNA NATIONAL PARK

Rise before dawn for a jeep safari in Panna National Park, a rugged landscape of teak forest, sandstone escarpments and the winding Ken River. With your naturalist guide, track fresh pugmarks and listen for alarm calls as the forest wakes. Wildlife here includes tiger (elusive), leopard, sloth bear, chital and sambar deer, plus rich birdlife—kingfishers, hornbills and raptors circling the cliffs.

As sunlight filters through the sal and teak, pause at river viewpoints where gharial and marsh crocodiles bask on sandbanks and bee-eaters flash over the water. After a rewarding morning in the reserve, return to the lodge by late morning for breakfast and time to relax.

Travel notes: Pick-up is typically around 05:30–06:00 (subject to season and park regulations). Carry a warm layer for the cool drive, a hat/sunscreen for later, binoculars, and water. Wear neutral-coloured clothing; avoid flash photography and loud noise. Park permits and zone allocations are pre-arranged; wildlife sightings are a matter of luck.

  • Dawn drive with expert naturalist guide.
  • Chances to spot big cats, sloth bear & deer.
  • Ken River viewpoints for birds & gharial.
  • Return to lodge late morning for breakfast.
Day 13 : FLIGHT KHAJURAHO → VARANASI & EVENING AARTI CEREMONY

After breakfast, transfer to Khajuraho Airport to board your flight to Varanasi, India’s spiritual heart. Take IndiGo flight 6E 2379, departing at 11:45 hrs and arriving at 12:40 hrs. On arrival, you’ll be met by your local representative and transferred to your hotel on the banks of the Ganges.

In the evening, experience one of India’s most moving spiritual rituals — the Ganga Aarti Ceremony at the Dashashwamedh Ghat. As the sun sets, priests in saffron robes perform synchronised prayers with fire, incense, and chants, while the air fills with the sound of bells and devotional hymns. Watch the flickering lamps float on the river, joining locals and pilgrims who gather nightly to honour the sacred Ganges.

Return to your hotel after this unforgettable immersion in the spiritual heart of India.

Travel notes: Khajuraho → Varanasi flight time is approx. 55 minutes. For the evening Aarti, expect large crowds — arrive early with your guide to secure a good view. Modest dress and respectful behaviour are essential at the ghats.

Day 14 : VARANASI — SUNRISE BOAT RIDE & SARNATH

Before dawn, transfer to the ghats for a sunrise boat ride on the Ganges. As first light spills across the river, watch saffron-clad priests offer prayers, pilgrims bathe on the steps, and temple bells echo through the mist. Glide past famous ghats and witness the city awakening in a timeless rhythm.

Return to the hotel for breakfast, then drive to Sarnath, where the Buddha delivered his first sermon. Explore the serene Deer Park, the towering Dhamek Stupa, the remains of the Ashokan Pillar, and the archaeological museum’s exquisite sculptures. Feel the calm contrast to Varanasi’s vibrant riverfront before heading back to the city.

Travel notes: Early starts (around 05:00) give the best river light and cooler temperatures. Dress modestly; remove shoes at temples. No photography at cremation ghats. The Sarnath museum is typically closed on Fridays; some galleries may restrict photography. Carry water, hat, and sunscreen.

  • Sunrise boat along the Ganges ghats.
  • Walk the river steps and old lanes (time permitting).
  • Visit Sarnath: Dhamek Stupa, Deer Park, museum.
Day 15 : FLIGHT VARANASI → DELHI

After breakfast, transfer to Varanasi Airport for your flight to the capital. Board IndiGo 6E 2590, departing at 11:35 and arriving 12:50 hrs in Delhi. On arrival, meet your representative and transfer to your hotel for check-in.

The afternoon is at leisure. Rest after the journey or take an easy orientation drive past India Gate and the government buildings, with time for a stroll around Connaught Place or a visit to a local bazaar for handicrafts and tea.

Travel notes: Flight time is approx. 1 hr 15 mins. Keep your passport and e-ticket handy for security checks. Domestic checked baggage allowance is typically 15–20 kg per person; cabin 7 kg (airline rules apply). Traffic in Delhi can be busy—allow extra time for evening outings.

Day 16 : DEPARTURE FROM DELHI

After breakfast, check out from your hotel and transfer to Delhi International Airport for your return flight home. Your journey through India’s vibrant cities, palaces, temples, and sacred rivers leaves lasting memories of an extraordinary adventure across the subcontinent.
