Day 3 : INTO THE AMAZON – JOURNEY FROM THE ANDES TO THE RAINFOREST

Early this morning, begin an unforgettable journey from the Andean highlands into the heart of the Amazon Rainforest. As you travel along a scenic winding road, you’ll descend from an altitude of around 3,000 metres to 500 metres (9,843 ft to 1,640 ft), witnessing an extraordinary transformation in both landscape and climate. The lush greenery intensifies, and the crisp mountain air gives way to the warm, humid embrace of the tropics.

En route, stop at the breathtaking Guacamayos-Macaw Lookout, perched between the Antisana and Sumaco National Reserves. Quito from Above – Cable Car & Panoramic Viewpoints

Later today, rise above the rooftops of the capital and venture to one of Quito’s most awe-inspiring attractions — the TelefériQo cable car. This scenic ride carries you high up the slopes of the Pichincha volcano, offering an unforgettable perspective on the city’s dramatic landscape and surrounding peaks.

As the cable car climbs to an altitude of around 4,000 metres (13,123 feet), you’ll be treated to sweeping views of Quito and the Andes Mountains beyond. From the top, weather permitting, you may even spot some of Ecuador’s most iconic volcanoes on the horizon, including Cotopaxi and Cayambe.

Today marks your departure from Ecuador as your journey continues towards the cultural treasures of Peru.

After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport in Quito for your onward flight to Lima. As you leave behind the land of breathtaking volcanoes and extraordinary wildlife, you take with you unforgettable memories of this remarkable destination.

Upon arrival in Lima, you will be warmly welcomed and transferred to your selected hotel. Known as the “City of Kings”, Lima is a vibrant coastal capital blending colonial heritage with contemporary culture, and home to nearly 10 million people. The city is undergoing an exciting transformation, offering a fascinating mix of history, gastronomy, and modern life.

The remainder of the day is at leisure. You may wish to relax after your journey or head out to explore Lima’s lively neighbourhoods such as Miraflores or Barranco, where ocean views, cafés, and artistic corners provide your first glimpse of life in Peru’s dynamic capital.

Day 14 : CUSCO TO SACRED VALLEY - TRADITIONS, TEXTILES AND INCA LEGACY

After breakfast, depart Cusco and journey into the breathtaking landscapes of the Sacred Valley of the Incas, a region renowned for its natural beauty, traditional culture, and remarkable archaeological heritage.

Your first stop is the charming highland village of Chinchero, set at an elevated viewpoint overlooking the valley. This traditional Andean community is known for preserving ancient Inca traditions, which are still reflected in the vibrant textiles, clothing, and daily customs of its people. Explore the village’s archaeological remains and visit its beautiful 17th-century colonial church, one of the earliest Catholic structures in Peru.

Continue to the fascinating Living Museum of Yucay, where Andean heritage comes to life through interactive demonstrations. Here, local artisans showcase traditional techniques such as weaving, adobe construction, pottery, and silverwork — all preserved and practised as they were in Inca times. You will also encounter llamas, alpacas, and sheep, offering a delightful insight into rural Andean life.

Your journey then leads to Ollantaytambo, one of the oldest continuously inhabited towns in South America. Wander through its cobbled streets before exploring the impressive Inca fortress, dramatically set against the mountainside, offering both historical intrigue and spectacular views.

Later, enjoy a memorable lunch in Ollantaytambo, where you will experience the authentic flavours of Andean cuisine in a warm and inviting setting that reflects the spirit of the Sacred Valley.

Day 15 : SACRED VALLEY TO MACHU PICCHU - THE LOST CITY OF THE INCAS

After breakfast, begin one of the most anticipated highlights of your journey as you travel from the Sacred Valley to the legendary Machu Picchu. Transfer to Ollantaytambo Station to board your train to Aguas Calientes, enjoying a spectacular journey through dramatic Andean landscapes, where towering mountains, winding rivers, and lush cloud forests unfold before your eyes.

Upon arrival, continue by coach on a scenic 25-minute ascent to the magnificent citadel of Machu Picchu, often referred to as the “Lost City of the Incas”. Built in the 15th century by Emperor Pachacuti, this extraordinary site is believed to have served as a royal retreat. Remarkably, it was never discovered by the Spanish conquistadors, allowing it to remain hidden and preserved within the surrounding jungle for centuries.

Enjoy a guided tour of this awe-inspiring UNESCO World Heritage Site, where the mystery and ingenuity of the Inca civilisation come vividly to life. After breakfast, it is time to bid farewell to the historic city of Cusco and the unforgettable landscapes of Peru.

You will be transferred to Cusco Airport for your onward flight to Lima, where you will collect your baggage and proceed to check in for your homebound international flight.

As your journey comes to an end, take with you cherished memories of ancient Inca wonders, vibrant cultures, and breathtaking scenery that make Peru truly extraordinary.
