Step into high-mountain comfort on the Everest Yeti Trail: Comfort in the Himalayas—a curated journey through the Khumbu that blends soft-adventure pacing with warming lodges, stove-cosy dining rooms and vast Himalayan panoramas. From the short flight into Lukla to the riverside lanes of Phakding, you ease into altitude along the milky Dudh Koshi, crossing swaying bridges and spinning prayer wheels on classic trekking in Nepal terrain.

Climbing to the amphitheatre streets of Namche Bazaar, the gateway to Sagarmatha National Park, you spend an acclimatisation day wandering to Khumjung and Kunde with wide looks to Everest, Lhotse and Ama Dablam. The trail then quiets above the Bhote Khosi, contouring via Phurte to tranquil Thamo, where cliff-perched sanctuaries—Lawudo Gompa and Chharok Monastery—offer a serene “walk high, sleep low” rhythm.

An ancient, recently renovated balcony path leads to the skyline meadows of Kongde (4,250m), a comfort-lodge eyrie with one of the region’s finest terraces. From here, a half-day ascent to the Farak Ri viewpoint (≈4,600m) delivers a theatre of giants—Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Thamserku—before you descend back to the main Everest Trail and the welcoming lodges of Phakding and Lukla.

Throughout, upgraded teahouses provide duvets, hot showers and hearty meals; days are paced for comfort, cultural encounters and unhurried photography. Permits for Sagarmatha National Park and the local Khumbu area are arranged, and your leader manages checkpoints, weather windows and the Lukla/Ramechhap flight logistics so you can simply walk, breathe and look.

In a sentence: A softly-paced, view-rich Everest comfort trek that threads Namche, Thamo and ridge-top Kongde—pairing big-mountain drama with warm lodges, gentle acclimatisation and authentic Sherpa culture.

Day 1 : DEPART NEW YORK → KATHMANDU: LAUNCHING YOUR EVEREST YETI TRAIL (COMFORT IN THE HIMALAYAS)

Your journey on the Everest Yeti Trail: Comfort in the Himalayas begins at NEW YORK. Arrive about 3 hours before departure for your long-haul NEW YORK to Kathmandu flight—the opening chapter of elevated, comfort-style trekking in Nepal through the Everest Region, with welcoming lodges, warm dining rooms and big mountain views.

Flight note: Most routings are a convenient one-stop connection (e.g., Doha, Abu Dhabi, Istanbul or Delhi). Check your baggage allowance in the airline app. Pack trekking poles, multi-tools and liquids in checked baggage; keep power banks, valuables and any meds in your carry-on. Wear or carry your broken-in hiking shoes.

After security, hydrate, stretch and choose a light meal. On board, sip water regularly, take brief aisle walks and keep caffeine/alcohol modest to arrive fresher for Kathmandu (KTM). A neck pillow, eye mask and earphones help with rest on the overnight sector.

Permits & paperwork (Everest): We arrange your required permits for the Everest Region (currently Sagarmatha National Park and the local Khumbu permit, with TIMS as applicable). Carry your original passport (no scans), at least 2 passport photos, and travel insurance details covering trekking/altitude and helicopter evacuation.

Time-zone tip: After take-off, set your watch to Nepal Standard Time (UTC+5:45) to smooth the body-clock shift. Keep your airline app open for live gate and baggage updates.

As cabin lights dim and stars arc beyond the wing, NEW YORK’s glow fades to cloud-soft hush. Tomorrow you’ll descend into the Kathmandu Valley—gateway to briefings, gentle gear checks and the comfort-lodge trail that threads towards the Sherpa heartland on the Everest Yeti Trail.

Flight summary: NEW YORK → Kathmandu (KTM), overnight sector; airline, flight numbers and timings as per ticket.

Day 2 : ARRIVE KATHMANDU (KTM) & LEISURE: SETTLE IN FOR THE EVEREST YETI TRAIL (COMFORT)

Touch down in Kathmandu, gateway to the Everest Yeti Trail: Comfort in the Himalayas. After arrival formalities, meet for your transfer to the hotel. Keep the day light—repack, rehydrate and ease into the time zone. Tonight’s city calm is the perfect prelude to comfort-lodge trekking in Nepal with warm dining rooms, cosy beds and big Sherpa-country views.

Arrival notes: Have passport, e-visa (if used), hotel address and local contact handy for immigration. Keep essentials—warm layer, medication, phone/power bank—in your carry-on. ATMs are available; cash is handy for tips and small purchases on the trail.

Once checked in, enjoy a gentle stroll for coffee or a courtyard tea. If energy allows, wander the lanes of Thamel for any last-minute gear spares—socks, buffs, sunscreen—then settle early to bank some sleep before heading to the Khumbu.

Health & jet-lag: Hydrate, favour light meals and an early night. Keep caffeine/alcohol modest. A short daylight walk and a calm evening routine help reset your clock for the mountains.

Briefing & permits (Everest): Evening meetup with your leader to review the route, kit and safety. We arrange required permits for the Sagarmatha National Park and local Khumbu entrance (with TIMS as applicable). Tomorrow’s domestic sector typically flies to Lukla (in peak periods, departures can route via Ramechhap/Manthali with an early road transfer).

Comfort style on trail: Upgraded lodges where available (duvets, hot showers/charging, welcoming dining rooms). Pack slippers/indoor shoes and a light down jacket for relaxed evenings.

Optional (extra cost): golden hour at Boudhanath or sunset at Swayambhunath for a gentle cultural introduction. Otherwise, enjoy a hot drink, a hearty (not heavy) supper and rest—your Everest Yeti Trail begins in earnest tomorrow.

Day 3 : TRANSFER TO RAMECHHAP • FLY TO LUKLA • TREK TO PHAKDING (2,610 M): FIRST STEPS INTO THE KHUMBU

Pre-dawn road transfer from Kathmandu to Ramechhap/Manthali Airport, then a short mountain hop to Lukla (Tenzing–Hillary)—gateway to the Everest Yeti Trail: Comfort in the Himalayas. After meeting the crew and a hot drink in Lukla, we set out along the Dudh Koshi, passing mani stones, water-powered prayer wheels and fluttering flags before reaching Phakding and your first comfort lodge—cosy rooms, warm dining hall and hearty Sherpa hospitality.

Domestic flying note: Road transfer ~3.5–5 hrs to Ramechhap; flight ~20–25 min to Lukla (weather-dependent; schedules can shift). Light baggage allowance—pack essentials smartly; keep power banks, meds and valuables in carry-on. Review current guidance such as the EU Air Safety List; we use reputable operators and build buffer time where possible.

Trail facts (approx.): 7–9 km3–4 hrs • Net descent ~200–300 m (Lukla ~2,840 m → Phakding 2,610 m) • Underfoot: stone steps, village lanes, forest singletrack, suspension bridges • Gentle first day to settle into altitude.

The route undulates through pine and juniper with river views and occasional mule trains. Prayer wheels hum in the shade; children wave from teahouse verandas; distant ridges hint at the higher country to come. We check into an upgraded lodge at Phakding—expect duvets, hot showers and a warm dining room supper.

Daypack today: 1.5–2 L water + electrolytes, light shell, fleece/warm layer, sun hat & sunscreen, lip balm, personal meds, blister kit, snacks, phone/camera in dry bags. Keep passport handy; Sagarmatha NP & Khumbu permits are typically checked tomorrow near Monjo.

Trail etiquette & safety: Cross suspension bridges one at a time; give way to yaks/mules; keep left of mani walls and walk clockwise around chortens. Pace conversationally and hydrate—we’re gaining fitness for higher days.

Day 4 : PHAKDING → NAMCHE BAZAAR (3,400 M): SHERPA CAPITAL & GATEWAY TO THE HIGH KHUMBU

We follow the milk-blue Dudh Koshi upstream, crossing airy suspension bridges and passing prayer wheels on the approach to Monjo, where we enter Sagarmatha National Park. After a riverside stretch beyond Jorsalle, the trail rears up to the famous Hillary Bridge and climbs in steady zigzags to the amphitheatre town of Namche Bazaar—the bustling heart of Sherpa country and your comfort-lodge base on the Everest Yeti Trail.

Trail facts (approx.): 9–11 km5–7 hrs • Start ~2,610 m (Phakding) → finish 3,400 m (Namche) • Cumulative ascent ~800–900 m • Underfoot: stone steps, forest singletrack, village lanes, suspension bridges.

If skies are kind, first looks to Everest flicker near Top Danda as we crest the final bends. Check into your upgraded lodge—duvets, hot showers and a warm dining room—then enjoy free time to wander the horseshoe streets, visit the Namche gompa or sip coffee with mountain views.

Pacing & altitude: Keep to a conversational rhythm; sip water often and snack little-and-often. Add layers promptly during rests—wind funnels above the Hillary Bridge. Watch for AMS signs (headache, nausea, unusual fatigue); tell your leader if they appear.

Permits & checkpoints: Have your passport handy for the Khumbu & Sagarmatha NP checks near Monjo. Photography is fine—just step aside from the trail and let yaks/mules pass.

Daypack today: 2 L water + electrolytes, light shell, warm mid-layer, sun hat & sunscreen, lip balm, personal meds, blister kit, snacks, passport/permits, and phone/camera in dry bags.

Rest of the day is free to relax or explore—browse gear shops and bakeries, or simply enjoy the terrace views as twilight paints the ridges above Namche Bazaar. Comfort trekking in the Himalayas at its finest.

Day 5 : NAMCHE BAZAAR ACCLIMATISATION: OPTIONAL KHUMJUNG & KUNDE PANORAMA WALK

A gentle walk-high, sleep-low day from Namche Bazaar (≈3,400m). We head up past the Syangboche airstrip towards the terrace of the Everest View Hotel for sweeping looks to Everest, Lhotse and Ama Dablam. Continue on a rolling balcony to the Sherpa twin villages of Khumjung and Kunde before looping back to Namche for a relaxed afternoon—classic comfort-style trekking in Nepal on the Everest Yeti Trail.

Trail facts (approx.): 8–12 km • 3–5 hours moving • Cumulative ascent ~300–450m • Highest point ~3,800–3,900m near Everest View Hotel • Underfoot: stone steps, village lanes, easy balcony paths.

En route we can visit Khumjung Gompa (traditional monastery; local legends of a “yeti scalp”) and the historic Kunde Hospital founded with the Hillary Trust—good windows into Sherpa culture and daily life above the tree line.

Acclimatisation & pacing: Keep a conversational rhythm; hydrate and snack little-and-often. Add layers quickly in the breeze. Watch for AMS signs (headache, nausea, unusual fatigue); if they appear, descend and inform your leader.

Sights & photo stops: Everest View Hotel terrace (tea with a view) • Syangboche airstrip • Khumjung stone alleys and school • Kunde hospital and hilltop chortens.

Daypack today: 1.5–2L water + electrolytes, light shell, warm mid-layer, sun hat & high-SPF sunscreen (strong UV), lip balm, sunglasses, personal meds, snacks, small cash for tea/donations, passport/permit copy, phone/camera in dry bags.

Cultural etiquette: Walk clockwise around stupas; keep left of mani walls; ask before photographing people or monastery interiors; remove hats inside gompas.

Return to your comfort lodge in Namche for a hot shower and a relaxed afternoon—browse bakeries and cafés or simply enjoy balcony views as twilight settles over the amphitheatre town.

Day 6 : NAMCHE → THAMO (3,480 M) VIA PHURTE: BALCONY TRAIL ABOVE THE BHOTE KHOSI

We leave the amphitheatre of Namche Bazaar on a high contouring path, keeping the Bhote Khosi far below as the trail threads pine and juniper. Mani walls and prayer wheels mark the way through Phurte, then the path rolls across easy spurs to the quiet hamlet of Thamo—a serene stop on the Everest Yeti Trail: Comfort in the Himalayas with wide valley views and a calm, village cadence.

Trail facts (approx.): 7–9 km • 3–4 hrs moving • Start ~3,400 m (Namche) → finish 3,480 m (Thamo) • Cumulative ascent ~250–350 m with gentle undulations • Underfoot: balcony singletrack, stone steps, village lanes, short forest sections.

The day feels unhurried: birdsong in the pines, yaks on the path and long looks upriver towards the trade route to Tibet. Check in to your comfort lodge at Thamo, where a warm dining room, duvets and hot showers round out a soft-landing afternoon. Time and interest allowing, a stroll to the local gompa offers a quiet cultural window.

Pacing & altitude: Keep a conversational rhythm and sip water often—today is about steady conditioning rather than big gain. Add layers promptly in breezy gullies; the balcony can funnel wind.

Daypack today: 1.5–2 L water + electrolytes, light shell, warm mid-layer, sun hat & sunscreen, lip balm, personal meds, blister kit, snacks, and phone/camera in dry bags. Small cash for tea houses.

Trail etiquette & safety: Give way to yaks/mules; keep left of mani walls and walk clockwise around chortens. Watch footing on polished stone steps and short exposed sections above the river.

Evening settles softly over the side valley; prayer flags lift and the river murmurs below. Settle in—tomorrow the path continues up the Bhote Khosi towards broad meadows and high Sherpa hamlets.

Day 7 : THAMO ACCLIMATISATION WALK: CHHAROK MONASTERY (≈3,970 M) & LAWUDO GOMPA

From Thamo (≈3,480 m) we make a serene walk-high, sleep-low circuit to two cliff-perched sanctuaries: the historic Chharok Monastery and the retreat haven of Lawudo Gompa. The path climbs steadily through pine and juniper, past chortens and mani walls, with the Bhote Khosi far below and broad views towards the high Thame valley—an ideal day to condition lungs and legs on the Everest Yeti Trail: Comfort in the Himalayas.

Trail facts (approx.): 6–10 km • 3–5 hours moving • Elevation gain ~450–550 m • High point ~3,970 m • Underfoot: balcony singletrack, stone steps, short rocky spurs. Out-and-back or small loop depending on conditions.

At Chharok the buildings seem to cling to the rock, prayer flags snapping in the valley wind. Lawudo offers a quieter courtyard mood—time for tea, photos and a mindful pause before returning to Thamo for a second comfortable night (duvets, hot shower, warm dining room).

Acclimatisation & pacing: Keep a conversational rhythm; sip water regularly and snack little-and-often. Add layers promptly—breezes can be sharp on exposed balconies. Watch for AMS signs (headache, nausea, unusual fatigue); descend if symptoms appear and inform your leader.

Cultural etiquette: Walk clockwise around stupas, keep left of mani walls, remove hats inside gompas, and ask permission before photographing people or interiors. Small donations for monastery upkeep are welcomed (carry cash).

Daypack today: 1.5–2 L water + electrolytes, light shell, warm mid-layer, hat & gloves, high-SPF sunscreen, sunglasses, lip balm, personal meds, snacks, small cash for tea/donations, phone/camera in dry bags.

Back in Thamo, enjoy an unhurried afternoon—stretch, shower and relax by the dining room stove. Sleeping low after walking high sets you up perfectly for tomorrow’s onward trail.

Day 8 : THAMO → KONGDE (4,250 M): ANCIENT BALCONY TRAIL TO A PANORAMIC EVEREST EYRIE

We leave Thamo on an ancient, newly restored balcony path that climbs high above the Bhote Khosi, weaving through juniper and pine towards the sky-line meadows of Kongde. The trail undulates across stone staircases and airy traverses, then steepens on switchbacks for a decisive final rise to one of the great viewpoints of the Everest Region. From the ridge, the panorama unfurls—Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku and the sacred pyramid of Khumbila—a signature highlight of the Everest Yeti Trail: Comfort in the Himalayas and world-class trekking in Nepal.

Trail facts (approx.): 8–12 km • 5–7 hours moving • Start ~3,480 m (Thamo) → finish 4,250 m (Kongde) • Cumulative ascent ~800–1,000 m with short undulations • Underfoot: balcony singletrack, stone steps, short rocky spurs; some narrow/exposed sections.

As we gain height, the Dudh Koshi valley drops away and the skyline sharpens. Lunch is taken at a scenic rest spot en route, with the afternoon saved for the final ascent to the ridge-top comfort lodge at Kongde—warm dining room, duvets and a terrace designed for long looks at the highest peaks on earth.

Terrain & safety: Sections of the historic path are narrow with exposure; keep to the inside, use trekking poles and maintain spacing. Step aside for yaks/mules. Stone steps can be polished—short, sure foot placements help. Your leader will set a steady pace and choose the safest line on any rough spur.

Altitude & pacing: We’re sleeping higher tonight (~4,250 m). Keep a conversational rhythm, sip water regularly and snack little-and-often. Add layers promptly in breezy gullies. Report any AMS signs (headache, nausea, unusual fatigue) to the leader; rest protocols are in place.

Daypack today: 1.5–2 L water + electrolytes, light shell, warm mid-layer, hat & gloves, high-SPF sunscreen, sunglasses, lip balm, personal meds, blister kit, snacks, headlamp, and phone/camera in dry bags. Small cash for teas en route.

Arriving at Kongde, settle into your lodge and step onto the terrace as evening light washes the amphitheatre of giants. Hot showers, a hearty supper and star-bright skies round off a memorable ascent day—comfort, serenity and superlative Everest views in one perfect perch.

Day 9 : KONGDE (4,250 M): FARAK RI VIEWPOINT (≈4,600 M) OR RELAX AT THE LODGE

Wake to a theatre of peaks and choose your pace: a half-day hike to the panoramic spur of Farak Ri for vast Everest views, or a slower day soaking up Kongde’s ridge-top tranquility from your comfort lodge. Either way, this is a signature high point of the Everest Yeti Trail: Comfort in the Himalayas.

Hike to Farak Ri — trail facts (approx.): 4–6 hrs round-trip • 5–9 km • Ascent ~350–450 m (Kongde 4,250 m → Farak Ri ≈4,600 m) • Underfoot: stone steps, gravelly balcony path, short scree/rocky spurs; old snow possible early/late season.

From the lodge, a steady climb threads grassy ribs and cairned steps to the viewpoint. On a clear day the skyline stacks with Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Tawoche and Khumbila; far below, the Dudh Koshi loops past Namche. After photos and a warm drink, we descend carefully to Kongde for a relaxed afternoon.

Acclimatisation & pacing: Keep a conversational rhythm, sip water regularly and snack little-and-often. Wind chill is common on the ridge—add layers promptly during photo stops. Report any AMS signs (headache, nausea, unusual fatigue) to your leader.

Terrain & safety: Use trekking poles on loose gravel; maintain spacing on narrower sections and keep to the inside on exposed traverses. If the trail is icy, micro-spikes may be advised (leader’s call).

Daypack (hike option): 1.5–2 L water + electrolytes, wind/waterproof shell, warm mid-layer, hat & gloves, high-SPF sunscreen, sunglasses, lip balm, personal meds, snacks, headlamp, phone/camera in dry bags.

Relax-at-the-lodge option: Enjoy terrace views, a short meadow stroll, hot shower/charging, a good book and bakery treats. This lighter day still aids acclimatisation—rest is training at altitude.

We spend a second night at Kongde, watching alpenglow sweep the amphitheatre of peaks before a warm, unhurried dinner—comfort, calm and Himalayan scale in perfect balance.

Day 10 : KONGDE → PHAKDING (2,610 M): LONG BALCONY DESCENT TO THE EVEREST TRAIL

After sunrise over the high peaks, we leave Kongde and begin a sustained descent on the ancient, renovated path that ribbons above the Bhote Khosi. Stone stairways and airy traverses step down through juniper and pine until the cliffs ease and the hum of the Dudh Koshi returns. We rejoin the main Everest Trail near the river and follow prayer wheels and mani walls south to the comfort-lodge welcome of Phakding—a big, satisfying day on the Everest Yeti Trail: Comfort in the Himalayas.

Trail facts (approx.): 12–16 km6–8 hrs moving • Start ~4,250 m (Kongde) → finish 2,610 m (Phakding) • Net descent ~1,600–1,800 m with brief ups • Underfoot: long stair sections, balcony singletrack, short rocky spurs, forest lanes; suspension bridges nearer Phakding.

Views widen and stack—Khumbila, Thamserku, and the deep-cut river valleys—before we drop into warmer air and village life. By mid–late afternoon we reach Phakding for hot showers, duvets and a relaxed dinner in the warm dining room.

Downhill care: Use trekking poles to spare knees; take short, sure steps on polished stone. Keep to the inside on narrow/exposed traverses and maintain spacing. Tape hot spots early to prevent blisters. If legs feel shaky late day, slow the cadence and rest briefly.

Daypack today: 1.5–2 L water + electrolytes, light shell, warm layer, sun hat & sunscreen, lip balm, personal meds, knee/ankle support if used, blister kit, snacks, headlamp, phone/camera in dry bags.

Etiquette & safety: Yield to yaks/mules; step to the mountain side as they pass. Cross suspension bridges one at a time. Keep left of mani walls and circle chortens clockwise. Hydrate even on cooler sections—big descents can dehydrate as much as climbs.

Evening in Phakding is unhurried—river song, warm lights and a hearty supper. Tomorrow we continue the easy-rolling path down the valley.

Day 11 : PHAKDING → LUKLA (≈2,840 M): RETURN TO THE AIRSTRIP TOWN

A relaxed final walk upstream along the Dudh Koshi brings us back to Lukla, closing the loop on the Everest Yeti Trail: Comfort in the Himalayas. Prayer wheels hum, suspension bridges sway lightly, and balcony paths thread pine and juniper before the stepped lanes of Lukla rise ahead—cafés, bakeries and gear shops lining the amphitheatre above the famous airstrip.

Trail facts (approx.): 7–9 km3–4 hrs • Start 2,610 m (Phakding) → finish 2,840 m (Lukla) • Cumulative ascent ~300–400 m with gentle undulations • Underfoot: stone steps, village lanes, forest singletrack, suspension bridges.

Check into your comfort lodge—duvets, hot showers and a warm dining room—and enjoy a free afternoon to explore this thriving trailhead town. Sip a celebratory coffee, browse handicraft stalls, or wander up to the hilltop gompa for a quiet look across the airstrip and valley ridges.

Pacing & care: Keep a steady, conversational rhythm; poles help on stepped sections. Yield to yaks/mules and step to the mountain side. Cross bridges one at a time. Hydrate and tape any hot spots to keep feet happy for the final day.

Flight prep (for tomorrow): Domestic flights are weather-dependent with lighter baggage limits than international sectors. Keep passport, meds and power banks in carry-on; poles/multi-tools go in checked bags. We build buffer time and use reputable operators.

Daypack today: 1.5–2 L water + electrolytes, light shell, warm mid-layer, sun hat & sunscreen, lip balm, personal meds, snacks, headlamp, and phone/camera in dry bags. Small cash for cafés and souvenirs.

As evening lights glow along Lukla’s main lane, enjoy a hot shower and a relaxed supper. Bags squared away for the morning, you can toast a fine trek beneath a sky bright with Himalayan stars.

Day 12 : FLY LUKLA → RAMECHHAP • ROAD TRANSFER TO KATHMANDU: BACK TO THE VALLEY

After breakfast we check in at Lukla (Tenzing–Hillary) for the short mountain hop to Ramechhap/Manthali. Weather and airfield conditions set today’s window, so timings can flex. On landing, we continue by road to Kathmandu, rolling past terrace-cut hills and market towns before the valley opens and city life returns—a gentle close to the Everest Yeti Trail: Comfort in the Himalayas.

Flight & transfer notes: Lukla → Ramechhap flight ~20–25 mins (weather-dependent). Typical baggage limits are lighter than international (often ~10–15 kg checked + small cabin; confirm your ticket). Keep passport, meds and power banks in carry-on; trekking poles, multi-tools and liquids in checked bags. Road transfer Ramechhap → Kathmandu ~3.5–5 hrs depending on traffic/roadworks.

On the drive, expect classic mid-hill scenes—tea stalls, schoolyards and fields of millet and buckwheat. Short comfort stops are planned en route before your hotel check-in and an easy evening: hot shower, relaxed supper and time to reflect on high ridges and wide horizons.

Comfort & safety: Flights operate strictly weather permitting; buffers are built into the plan. Wear a seatbelt on the road transfer, and if you’re motion-sensitive, sit forward-facing and consider remedies. Keep valuables zipped and close during roadside/photo stops.

Daypack today: Water, light snacks, shell, warm layer, sun protection, hand sanitiser/tissues, personal meds, phone/camera + power bank, and a small trash bag for litter. Keep boarding passes and ID handy for checks.

Travel summary: Lukla (LUA) → Ramechhap/Manthali (RHP) flight; road transfer to Kathmandu; hotel check-in as per booking.

Day 13 : KATHMANDU FREE DAY: REST, RESET & GENTLE CULTURE

After days on the Everest Yeti Trail: Comfort in the Himalayas, today is yours to unwind in Kathmandu. Sleep in, linger over breakfast and let the body settle. If you fancy a light wander later, the valley’s courtyards, cafés and craft lanes are an easy, rewarding meander.

Health & recovery: Hydrate well, favour light meals and gentle stretching (calves, hips, shoulders). A short sunlit walk helps circulation; keep caffeine/alcohol modest. Book a massage or steam (optional) to ease trail-tired legs.

Easy visits (optional, extra cost): Golden hour on the kora at Boudhanath Stupa • Sunset at Swayambhunath • Craft lanes of Patan Durbar Square • Quiet lawns at the Garden of Dreams. Keep walks short and unhurried.

Shopping & tastes: Pick up small gifts in Thamel (handicrafts, tea, pashmina, prayer flags). Treat yourself to coffee and bakery stops, or try a momo lunch. Bring cash for smaller shops; cards accepted in many cafés.

Admin & packing: Sort laundry, back up photos, and repack for tomorrow’s flight. Keep passport, e-tickets and meds handy; place power banks in carry-on and trekking poles/multi-tools in checked luggage.

Cultural etiquette: Dress modestly for temples; remove hats/shoes where signed. Ask before photographing people or interiors; walk clockwise around stupas and keep left of mani walls.

As dusk settles over the valley, enjoy an easy supper and an early night — or one last tea under courtyard lights. Tomorrow you head home with the quiet glow of the Khumbu still in your stride.

Day 14 : DEPART KATHMANDU: HOMEWARD BOUND

Your Everest Yeti Trail: Comfort in the Himalayas concludes in Kathmandu. After breakfast, transfer to Tribhuvan International Airport (KTM) for your flight home—carrying memories of Kongde’s terrace views, the calm of Thamo’s gompas and the amphitheatre bustle of Namche.

Airport timing: Aim to arrive ~3 hours before departure. Kathmandu traffic can be busy—leave with a comfortable buffer. Keep passport, e-ticket and any remaining permits handy.

Baggage & security: Place power banks and lithium batteries in carry-on. Pack trekking poles, multi-tools and liquids in checked luggage. Cabin liquids must be in containers ≤100 ml inside a clear, resealable bag. For connections, keep duty-free liquids sealed in a tamper-evident bag.

In-flight wellbeing: Hydrate often, take short aisle walks and stretch calves/hips/shoulders. Compression socks help on long sectors. Set your watch to destination time after take-off to ease jet-lag.

As the aircraft rises over the valley and the Himalaya settle into cloud, hold the quiet of ridge paths, prayer flags and river song. Namaste—until the mountains call again.

Travel summary: Hotel → Tribhuvan International Airport (KTM) transfer; international flight as ticketed.

Important Information — Everest Yeti Trail

  • Permits: Sagarmatha National Park entry and Khumbu (local) permit are required; carry your passport for checks at trail gates.
  • Domestic flights: Lukla sectors are highly weather/ATC dependent and often operate via Ramechhap/Manthali in peak seasons. Baggage limits are lighter than international (typically ~10–15 kg checked + small cabin)—pack smart and build buffer time. Review general EU Air Safety List guidance when choosing carriers.
  • Road transfers: Kathmandu ↔ Ramechhap usually ~3.5–5 hrs depending on traffic/roadworks. Wear a seatbelt and keep valuables zipped during stops.
  • Altitude & acclimatisation: Key overnights include Namche (~3,400 m) and Kongde (~4,250 m); optional Farak Ri (~4,600 m). Keep a conversational pace, hydrate, snack regularly and report any AMS symptoms immediately.
  • Terrain & safety: Expect long stone stairways, balcony trails and suspension bridges. Cross bridges one at a time and give yaks/mules the mountain side. Trekking poles help on climbs/descents. Strong UV at altitude—use sunglasses and high-SPF sunscreen.
  • Lodges & facilities: Comfort lodges where available; hot showers, charging and Wi-Fi may be limited or fee-based; power can be intermittent—carry a reliable power bank and headlamp.
  • Water & hygiene: Boiled/treated water provided on trek; bring a reusable bottle and optional backup purification. Hand sanitiser and basic personal first-aid reduce GI issues.
  • Money & connectivity: Villages are largely cash-based; withdraw in Kathmandu. Wi-Fi/mobile data is patchy outside the main hubs.
  • Cultural etiquette: Keep left of mani walls, circle chortens clockwise, and ask before photographing people. Modest dress in monasteries; small donations are appreciated.
  • Baggage rules: Power banks and all lithium batteries in carry-on; trekking poles/multi-tools/liquids in checked bags.
  • Insurance (mandatory): Must cover trekking at altitude and helicopter evacuation; check policy limits/exclusions and any pre-authorisation steps.
  • Financial protection & support: ATOL for UK bookings; ABTOT for non-UK bookings; plus 24/7 support whilst away.
