Our holiday to Armenia and Georgia offers a great opportunity to explore the contrasts between the increasingly famous Georgia and less explored neighbour, Armenia. Your incredible journey starts in the capital of Georgia, Tbilisi where in you will visit some of the iconic places taking you to Sighnaghi, Sagaredjo. Mtskheta and Stepantsminda. Subsequently, make your way to Armenia, visiting Gyumri, Yerevan, Symphony of Stones and many more magnificent places.

Arrival in Tbilisi International Airport. Transfer to the hotel.
 Day 03: Tbilisi

Today, we will explore the capital of Georgia, Tbilisi. Wander in the old districts of the city which are structured like terraces, as well as take a walk in the narrow streets to enjoy colorful houses, patterned balconies and wonderful samples of modern architecture. We will start the tour from Metekhi church (13th century) facing the magnificent views over old Tbilisi. A stroll along winding little streets takes us to the main sights of the city. Afterwards, we enjoy the panoramic views of the whole town and through the ancient Narikala fortress (4th century), find ourselves in the historical domed sulphur bath area- connected with the name of our city.  Day 04: Tbilisi – Sighnaghi – Sagaredjo – Tbilisi

Today, we will visit 18 century, small and beautiful town, Sighnaghi. It is distinguished by its cobbled narrow streets, charming balcony houses, ancient city wall and picturesque views. From here you can see the landscapes of the impressive Alazani Valley and the vast mountains of the Greater Caucasus. Then, enjoy a traditional Georgian lunch with locals and get the authentic tastes of freshly harvested products from the host`s garden with delicious cuisine and wine. Sit at the local`s table, share a delicious meal prepared with family recipes, and incredible moments to cherish forever. Experience how to live like a Georgian and eat like a Georgian! Afterwards, we will visit the Georgian traditional wine cellar. The host has a special love for wine, which is reflected in the quality of the wine produced by him. Here we taste wine made by traditional way in Kvevri (clay vessel). This method of wine making is inscribed in UNESCO intangible heritage list. Drive back to Tbilisi. Overnight at a hotel in Tbilisi.  Day 05: Tbilisi – Mtskheta – Stepantsminda – Gergeti – Stepantsminda – Tbilisi

Today, we drive to visit the ancient capital and religious center of Georgia – Mtskheta (3000 years old) and see its historical places: Jvari church (6th century) and impressive Svetitskhoveli Cathedral (11th century) where the Robe of Christ is buried. Both Jvari and Svetitskhoveli are UNESCO World Heritage sites. Afterwards, drive up the famous Georgian Military Highway (leading to the Georgian-Russian border). On the way, visit Ananuri architectural complex (17th century), the two churches and the fortress overlook the Zhinvali water reservoir. The carvings on the churches are one of the best samples of the Georgian art. The drive is very scenic through high Caucasus Mountains. Arrive in Stepantsminda. Drive to Gergeti trinity Church. Later, return to Tbilisi.Overnight at a hotel in Tbilisi. (B/-/-)

 Day 06: Sadakhlo border – Haghpat – Gyumri (160 km)

Drive to Georgian-Armenian border. Meeting at the Armenia-Georgia border Sadakhlo. Change guide and transportation. Start your acquaintance with Armenia with the monastic complex of Haghpat (976 AD) which is among the outstanding works of medieval Armenian architecture and is inscribed in UNESCO World Heritage list. Drive to the second largest city in Armenia; Gyumri.

Welcome dinner at the local restaurant.

 Day 07: Gyumri City tour–Tasty House–Echmiadzin – Zvartnots – Armenia Wine – Yerevan (195 km)

Breakfast at the hotel. This is an optimal opportunity to discover the 18th-19th century unique and indigenous architecture, cuisine and meet some of the most hospitable people. This walking tour will allow you to explore the historic flavor of the city, the lifestyle of the Gyumretsis, and the birthplace of George Ivanovich Gurdjieff. Become familiar with some of the significant religious structures of the city, visit a renowned blacksmith’s house to see his family’s personal collection of Gyumri traditional iron work, and much more. Drive to Vagharshapat. Lunch at Tasty House. Visit Etchmiadzin Cathedral, known as the center of the Armenian - Gregorian Church and appears to be one of the world's first Christian churches. Legend has it that it was here that Jesus Christ descended from heaven to show where he wanted a church built. So Echmiadzin means “The only-begotten descended”. The Church was built between the years 301 - 303 AD under the Armenian king Tiridates III and the first Armenian Catholicos, St. Gregory the Illuminator. Lunch in a local social organization. Return to Yerevan with stop at the ruins of Zvartnots temple - the pearl of the 7th c. architecture (inscribed in UNESCO World Heritage list). Transfer to Sasunik village, visiting Armenia Wine Factory considering the icon of modern wine making, balancing ancient traditions with the newest technology. The company is also the leader of local market in the quality wine sector as well as the leader in Armenian wine exports. A museum of the history of wine at the Armenia Wine winery has recently opened. Drive to Yerevan. Overnight at the hotel in Yerevan. (B/L/-)

 Day 08: Yerevan city tour – Sevan – Dilijan – Yerevan (~210 km)

Breakfast at the hotel. Light city tour in Yerevan. Set off to Lake Sevan, the emerald of Armenia and the second largest alpine lake in the world. Admire the picturesque views of one of the highest bodies of water in the worlds. Take a trip up north to the spectacular forested region of Dilijan, a resort town known as “Armenian Switzerland”. Home to numerous Armenian artists, composers, and filmmakers. There you will walk through quaint streets lined with well-preserved 19 c. buildings full of museums and small stores and cafes. While there, take a look at traditional ceramics workshop and woodcarvers’ studio. Drive back to Yerevan. Overnight at the hotel in Yerevan. (B/-/-)

 Day 09: Yerevan – Khor Virap – Areni Cave – Noravank – Yerevan (~245 km)

Breakfast at the hotel. Take a trip to Khor-Virap monastery and indulge yourself in exploring its charming architecture and rich history, both religious and cultural. It is situated in the Ararat valley against the backdrop of biblical Ararat Mountain, where Noah's Ark cast it’s anchor. The importance of this monastery stems from its connection with Saint Gregory the Illuminator, who introduced Christianity to Armenia thus making Armenia the first Christian nation in the world. Explore the depths of Areni Cave system. It’s history dates back to at the very least 6,000 years ago and its suspected that the cavernous settlement served as a trading a cultural hub. Currently its and archeological museum and offers in its exposition ancient items of cultural significance and ancient everyday objects ranging from pieces of clothing to housewares. Continue tour to Noravank monastery - a great religious and cultural center of 12th c. Noravank (“New Monastery”) is located in a remote location about a hundred km from Yerevan traversing stunning nature and mountainous landscapes. The history of this monastery dates back to the 9th century and contains multiple churches built up over centuries. It’s known for intricate atriums and interior paintings that are sure to impress even the most well-traveled visitor. Drive to Yerevan. Overnight at the hotel in Yerevan. (B/-/-)

 Day 10: Yerevan – Geghard – Garni – Symphony of Stones – Yerevan (~80 km)

Breakfast at the hotel. Drive to Geghard monastery inscribed in UNESCO World Heritage list. Geghard is another incredible ancient Armenian monastery, partly carved out of a mountain. The meaning "the Monastery of the Spear", originates from the spear which had wounded Jesus during his crucifixion, allegedly brought to Armenia by Apostle Thaddeus, and stored amongst many other relics. Proceed to the village of Garni. The citadel and pagan temple of Garni is a picturesque monument of the Hellenistic period and an impressive piece of ancient Armenian architecture. It was built in the first century A.D. by the Armenian King Tiridates and it is dedicated to a heathen god, probably to Mithra, the god of the sun whose figure stood in the depth of the sanctuary. Lunch at the local house with lavash baking presentation. Visit Symphony of Stones. Drive back to Yerevan.
