Day 1 : DEPART NEW YORK – FLY TO KATHMANDU

Today, your incredible journey begins as you board your international outbound flight to Kathmandu, the cultural and spiritual heart of Nepal. Flights are available from a choice of regional airports and can be arranged at an additional cost.

Day 2 : ARRIVE IN KATHMANDU – GATEWAY TO THE HIMALAYAS

On arrival in Kathmandu, Nepal’s vibrant capital, you will be warmly welcomed by a Lumle Holidays representative and transferred to your hotel. As the plane descends over the valley, you’ll catch your first glimpses of Himalayan foothills and pagoda rooftops shimmering in the sun — a hint of the extraordinary journey that lies ahead.

For the remainder of the day, you are free to explore at your own pace. You may wish to wander into the bustling streets of Thamel, Kathmandu’s colourful tourist district known for its cafés, bookshops, artisan stalls, and trekking shops. Or hop in a short cab ride to Jhonchhe (Freak Street) and Basantapur, once the legendary hub of 1960s travellers and still rich in bohemian charm and old-world architecture. Alternatively, simply relax and settle into your hotel, preparing for the incredible adventure ahead.

Day 3 : DISCOVER THE SPIRIT OF KATHMANDU – TEMPLES, STUPAS & ANCIENT PALACES

Today begins your deep dive into the rich cultural fabric of Kathmandu, a city that effortlessly blends ancient tradition with vibrant street life. This mystical capital is a spiritual melting pot of Hindu and Buddhist influences, centuries-old temples, chaotic bazaars, and serene monasteries.

Your exploration starts at the historic Kathmandu Durbar Square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Wander through a stunning cluster of palaces, courtyards, and temples dating back to the 17th and 18th centuries — each intricately carved and steeped in legend. This was once the seat of Malla kings and remains the ceremonial heart of the city.

Continue to the iconic Swayambhunath Stupa, affectionately known as the Monkey Temple. Perched atop a hill, this ancient Buddhist complex offers a panoramic, hawk-eye view of the Kathmandu Valley. Walk clockwise around the white dome, spinning the prayer wheels inscribed with sacred mantras, and watch monkeys play beneath fluttering prayer flags — a truly spiritual experience.

Nearby, visit the sacred Hindu site of Pashupatinath Temple, located along the banks of the holy Bagmati River. As one of the most important Hindu pilgrimage destinations in the world, this temple draws devotees and sadhus from across the globe. Witness rituals, cremation ghats, and the spiritual energy that surrounds this revered site.

Optional (at extra cost): Begin your day with an unforgettable experience — a scenic mountain flight offering breathtaking close-up views of Mount Everest and the Himalayas from just five nautical miles away. This once-in-a-lifetime flight is highly recommended for those seeking a bird’s-eye view of the world’s highest peaks.

Day 4 : JOURNEY TO POKHARA – GATEWAY TO THE ANNAPURNAS

After breakfast, depart Kathmandu by comfortable tourist vehicle and begin your scenic drive to Pokhara — one of Nepal’s most serene and picturesque cities, nestled at the foot of the Annapurna mountain range. The journey winds through lush valleys, terraced hillsides, and charming roadside villages, offering a first glimpse of Nepal’s countryside at its most beautiful.

Upon arrival in Pokhara, check in to your hotel and enjoy a leisurely evening at your own pace. With its laid-back atmosphere, lakeside cafés, and mountain views, Pokhara invites you to unwind. Take a stroll along Phewa Lake, soak in the relaxed vibe, or browse the vibrant local shops and eateries — the city truly has it all.

Overnight stay in Pokhara.

Day 5 : EXPLORE THE NATURAL & SPIRITUAL BEAUTY OF POKHARA

After breakfast, set out to explore the highlights of Pokhara, a city that perfectly blends tranquil natural beauty with spiritual depth. Accompanied by a knowledgeable English-speaking guide and private driver, you’ll uncover the stories and symbolism behind each site.

Begin with a visit to the sacred Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave, one of the longest caves in Nepal and home to a revered underground shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva. Just across the road, witness the roaring cascade of Davis Falls (also known as Patale Chhango), where the waters of Phewa Lake plunge into a mysterious underground tunnel — a fascinating natural wonder with a tragic legend behind its name.

Continue to some of Pokhara’s scenic lakes and sacred temples, where the calm waters and hilltop views offer moments of peace and reflection. Along the way, your guide will share insights into the religious traditions, myths, and local life that make Pokhara one of Nepal’s most beloved destinations.

Overnight stay in Pokhara.

Day 6 : SUNRISE AT SARANGKOT – EXPLORE POKHARA – TRAVEL TO TIMELESS BANDIPUR

Begin the day with an early morning drive to the hilltop village of Sarangkot, renowned for its panoramic sunrise views over the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. As the sun casts golden hues across the Himalayan peaks, you’ll witness one of the most breathtaking sights Nepal has to offer — a moment of pure magic.

After soaking in the sunrise, descend by vehicle and return to Pokhara for a well-earned breakfast. The rest of the morning is yours to enjoy at leisure. Pokhara has something for every traveller — from cycling quiet lakeside paths to discovering hidden temples, or even taking a peaceful boat ride to the island-based Tal Barahi Temple in the middle of Phewa Lake. Whether you choose adventure or relaxation, Pokhara never disappoints.

Later, you’ll journey by road to the hilltop town of Bandipur, a beautifully preserved Newari settlement that feels like stepping back in time. Nestled in the foothills of the Himalayas, Bandipur has retained its medieval charm through cobbled streets, stone archways, traditional architecture, and uninterrupted mountain views.

Spend the afternoon wandering through town, where 18th-century temples, elegant Newari houses, and laid-back cafés create a fusion of history and hospitality. With no traffic in the town centre and a relaxed pace of life, Bandipur offers a unique blend of culture, tranquillity, and community spirit.

Overnight stay in Bandipur.

Day 7 : JOURNEY TO CHITWAN – INTO THE HEART OF THE JUNGLE

After breakfast, continue your adventure as you travel south by road to the lush lowlands of Chitwan National Park, one of Asia’s premier wildlife destinations and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. On arrival, check in to your comfortable jungle lodge, surrounded by subtropical forest and river landscapes teeming with wildlife.

As the day draws to a close, immerse yourself in the rich local culture with an evening performance of the Tharu cultural dance, a traditional folk show that celebrates the customs, dress, and rhythms of the indigenous Tharu community. Performed around a bonfire, this vibrant dance is an unforgettable introduction to the people who have lived in harmony with the jungle for generations.

Overnight stay in Chitwan.

Day 8 : WILDLIFE ADVENTURES IN CHITWAN – JUNGLE SAFARI, CANOEING & VILLAGE WALK

Today is a full day of thrilling adventure and exploration in the untamed wilderness of Chitwan National Park. Widely regarded as Nepal’s top wildlife destination, Chitwan offers a rich ecosystem of dense forests, grasslands, and winding rivers that are home to an incredible variety of fauna.

Begin your day with a jungle safari, where you’ll venture deep into the park in search of iconic wildlife. Keep your eyes peeled for the elusive Bengal tiger, spotted deer, gharial crocodiles, sloth bears, and the famous one-horned rhinoceros—a species Chitwan is renowned for. With luck, you may spot several of these rare and majestic creatures in their natural habitat.

Later, enjoy a tranquil canoe ride along the Rapti River, gliding silently past marshy banks where crocodiles bask and exotic birdlife flutters above. This peaceful stretch of water offers a different perspective on Chitwan’s ecosystem and is ideal for photography and birdwatching.

In the afternoon, take a guided walk through a nearby Tharu village to witness daily life in this traditional community. Learn how the Tharu people have coexisted with the jungle for centuries, preserving their customs, architecture, and relationship with the land.

Overnight stay in Chitwan.

Day 9 : RETURN TO KATHMANDU – LEISURE AT THE CAPITAL

After breakfast, you’ll bid farewell to the jungles of Chitwan and begin your scenic journey back to Kathmandu. The drive takes you through a tapestry of lush hills, river valleys, and charming roadside towns, offering one final glimpse of Nepal’s diverse landscapes.

Upon arrival, check in to your hotel and spend the evening at leisure. You may choose to unwind at your accommodation, enjoy a rooftop meal with city views, or take a gentle stroll through Thamel to soak in the sights, sounds, and flavours of Nepal’s vibrant capital.

Overnight stay in Kathmandu.

Day 10 : DRIVE TO NAGARKOT – SUNSET OVER THE HIMALAYAS

After breakfast, depart Kathmandu for the peaceful hill station of Nagarkot, located just 32 kilometres from the capital. Perched at an altitude of 2,175 metres, Nagarkot is renowned for its sweeping views of the Himalayan mountain range, including on clear days glimpses of Mount Everest itself.

Check in to your hilltop hotel and spend the afternoon at leisure, breathing in the fresh mountain air and admiring the tranquillity of the surrounding countryside. As evening falls, head to the hotel’s viewing point or balcony to witness a spectacular sunset over the Himalayas. The golden light slowly illuminating the distant peaks is a truly magical experience and a perfect moment to pause and reflect on your journey through Nepal.

After sunset, the rest of the evening is yours to relax and unwind in this serene setting.

Overnight stay in Nagarkot.

Day 11 : SUNRISE OVER THE HIMALAYAS – OPTIONAL HIKE TO CHANGU NARAYAN – RETURN TO KATHMANDU

Wake early to witness a truly spectacular Himalayan sunrise from Nagarkot. As the morning sun casts golden rays across the snow-capped peaks, it’s a moment of quiet awe you won’t soon forget. After breakfast, there’s a short period of free time before the journey back to Kathmandu begins.

For those who are keen to explore further, there is an optional soft hiking experience from Telkot to Changu Narayan (approx. 3–4 hours). Those opting for this hike will be dropped at the starting point, while others will continue directly to Kathmandu by vehicle.

Telkot to Changu Narayan Hike (Optional, at extra cost)

This easy hike begins from Telkot, gently descending through scenic terraced fields and a traditional Tamang village. The charming stone-built houses, vegetable gardens, and rustic lifestyle provide a fascinating cultural encounter. Springtime is especially delightful, with baby goats frolicking and blossoms adding colour to the hillsides. Many locals produce homemade wine throughout the year, adding to the authentic rural charm.

The second part of the trail meanders through a quiet deciduous forest ridge, offering tranquil views of the distant Himalayas. The walk is a gentle mix of downhill and flat paths, ending at Changu Narayan Temple — Nepal’s oldest pagoda-style Hindu temple and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here, you may pause for lunch at a local café (at your own cost) before rejoining the rest of the group.

Bhaktapur Durbar Square (Included En-Route Visit)

Whether you hiked or came directly, all travellers will stop en route at Bhaktapur Durbar Square, one of Nepal’s most captivating heritage cities. Known as a “living museum”, Bhaktapur showcases exquisite Newari architecture, with centuries-old temples like the Nyatapola and Dattatreya rising above the cobbled courtyards. Watch artisans carve wood and shape pottery just as their ancestors have done for generations.

After this enriching visit, continue to Kathmandu, where the evening is yours to relax. You may wish to stroll around Thamel or enjoy a quiet dinner to reflect on your day’s discoveries.

Overnight stay in Kathmandu.

Day 12 : FAREWELL NEPAL – TRANSFER TO AIRPORT

Today marks the end of your unforgettable journey through the cultural wonders and natural beauty of Nepal. At the scheduled time, a warm Lumle Holidays representative will meet you at your hotel, ready to assist with your transfer to the airport.

As you travel through the bustling streets of Kathmandu one last time, take a moment to reflect on the incredible experiences you’ve had — from Himalayan sunrises and jungle safaris to ancient temples and timeless traditions.

We wish you a safe flight home and hope your memories of Nepal’s rich culture, warm hospitality, and breathtaking landscapes stay with you forever.
