Argentina is an all-year-round destination, so you can plan your visit any time of the year. Having said that, Patagonia (in the south of Argentina) is ideal between December and March due to accessibility reasons. The weather in Buenos Aires is generally hot during this period, but a visit in the cooler period of July and August can be preferable.  During spring (September to November), the Lake District is bright with wildflowers. Whilst autumn in the wine valleys hovering Mendoza displays gold and copper-colored vines, against the backdrop of the Andes.

January – February

Peak of Argentina’s summer, January and February are popular months to visit Patagonia; especially El Calafate and Bariloche. Hotels fill up rapidly during this period. In January it gets wet in the northwest of the country and hot in the northeastern wetlands area.

March

A delightful month to visit Argentina. Summer is coming to an end. However, Patagonia is still accessible, and trekking can be done.

April

Autumn is a great time to visit Patagonia and Mendoza’s winelands. The footfall descends and changing colors of trees provide a superb view for the photography.

May

A good time to explore Argentina’s wetlands, Esteros de Iberá, May and June both are cool months and give the perfect platform for wildlife spotting.

June

Mid-June generally signals the beginning of ski season in Argentina focusing on the Bariloche area where snow settles down. During late June the southern right whales arrive at the Península Valdés.

July – August

If you are planning to visit Buenos Aires, it is an ideal time. Mornings are fresh and bright, and as time passes by temperature starts to drop down, the perfect time for a stroll on the streets. The ski season starts in July. For someone looking to witness the Buenos Aires Tango Festival, August is the time to be in Argentina.

September

September and October is a good time to explore the Península Valdés. The ideal time of the year for wildlife lovers, and you can expect sightings of whales, seals, penguins, and lots of seabirds.

October

Spring hits the Lake District around Bariloche is an alluring period to enjoy the bright wildflowers. This period serves great platform for outdoor activities, though, rainfall is comparatively on the higher side during this time of the year.

November

Beginning of summer in Argentina. A visit in November means you avoid the crown that gears up for December. It’s one of the greener months to visit the Salta and the northeast.

December

You are in the middle of Argentina’s summer, so it is one of the busy times to visit the country, offering you the best chance to soak in the warm, clear weather in Patagonia. The water level at Iguazú Falls is high providing incredible scenery and unforgettable images.
