When to Go in Sri Lanka

When to Go in Sri Lanka

At Lumle, we endeavor to provide as much as information possible to our customers which helps them to plan their forthcoming holiday better. In this when to go to Sri Lanka, we have sketched a rough guide, when to travel to this country.

Sri Lanka is observed as a year-round tourist destination. Sri Lanka has generally great weather with two annual monsoons that impact different parts of the country at different times of the year. One monsoon brings rain to the southwest and central hills from May to the end of September whereas the other brings rain to the northeast from November to February. From March to mid-April Sri Lanka tends to be dry throughout the country. From June – September, Sri Lanka embraces summer with extremely hot and humid.

Therefore, visitors have the opportunity to plan their Sri Lanka holidays based on the above. Sri Lanka sits approximately 2000 meters above sea level. The hills regions such as Nuwara Eliya and Bandarwela are observed to be always chillier.

April

April marks the beginning of the southwest monsoon, so it is ideal to be in the northern part of the country or on the eastern coast. The southern part is warm and sunny, however, rainfall increases, and you may witness disturbances in the sea.

The weather between the period of August and September proves to be at its best in the northern and eastern parts of Sri Lanka. You may experience the Kandy Perahera festival celebrating the Sacred Tooth Relic of Buddha. A lively environment with music and dance brings everyone together in July or August.
